Utah State Men's Tennis Wraps Up Day Two In Boise State Fall Tennis Classic, Saturday

BOISE, Idaho - Utah State concluded day two of the Boise State Fall Tennis Classic at Boise State's Appleton Tennis Center and Julia Davis Park. The matches conclude Sunday, Oct. 10 at 8 a.m.
In singles competition, senior Jakob Asplund is the sole Aggie advancing to the Sunday action. Asplund defeated Air Force's Alex Grubbs, 6-2, 4-6, 10-5, Eastern Washington's Luis Altimires, 6-4, 6-4, in the second and quarterfinal rounds of the singles Blue Flight Consolation, respectively. Asplund plays Utah's Dmytro Mamedov Sunday at 8 a.m. Asplund holds a 4-2 singles record in tournament action this fall. Sophomore Sven Poslusny defeated Oregon's Duncan MacDonald-Korth, 6-3, 5-7, 10-8 in the second round before falling to Idaho's Alex Joitoiu in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3 in the quarterfinals.
The USU doubles team of Poslusny and senior Bryan Marchant are the lone Aggie duo in Sunday doubles competition. Poslusny and Marchant defeated Gonzaga's Scott Sullivan and Zhia Hwa Chong, 8-4, and Montana's Carl Kuschke and David Cysneiros, 8-5, in the doubles Blue Flight second and quarterfinal rounds. Posluny and Marchant look to increase their 2-0 doubles record when they take on Idaho's Lachlan Reed and Abid Akbar in the semifinals Sunday at 11 a.m.
Utah State continues fall tournament action on Thursday, Oct. 14 through Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Utah Invitational in Salt Lake City.
