Curran Wearmouth and Andrew Whiting Earn Wins at Utah Intercollegiate Tournament

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - During the first day of action at the Utah Intercollegiate tournament hosted by the Utah Utes, junior Curran Wearmouth and senior Andrew Whiting earned wins over in-state rivals in the singles brackets.
In the Black Draw, Wearmouth defeated Weber State's James Smith in a thrilling three-set match (6-3, 3-6, 6-4), while Whiting earned a victory against Utah's Justin Archer (6-3, 6-1). Freshman Dylan Harlow, playing in his first tournament as an Aggie, lost to BYU's Jeremy Burgeois (6-1, 6-1).
In the Red Draw, junior Matt Sweet lost to Utah's Slim Haza (6-0, 6-1)
The Aggies didn't earn any doubles wins on the first day of the tournament. The team of Sweet and Whiting lost to BYU's Francis Sargeant and Andrey Goryachokov (8-5) and Jacob Sullivan and Sterling Galli (8-3). The team of Wearmouth and Harlow lost to Utah's Ben Tasevac and Alejandro Medinilla (8-4) and Weber State's Oliver Good and James Smith (8-4)
The Aggie men return to action Friday at the Utah Intercollegiate Tournament.
