LAS VEGAS, Nevada - Utah State freshman Jakob Asplund, sophomore Oscar Ericsson and senior Mike Banks win in the first round of singles competition in day one of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association regionals in Las Vegas, Nevada Wed., Oct. 17.

Asplund beat Montana State's No. 24 Jakub Dybala, 7-5, 7-6, in the round of 128. Ericsson battled for a win over Idaho's Tim Huynh, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, while teammate Banks defeated Utah's John Taylor, 6-1, 7-5, also in the round of 128.

Asplund went on to the round of 64 where he fell to Las Vegas' David Campbell, 6-3, 6-3. Banks fell in the second round to Brigham Young's No. 30 Thomas Shubert, 6-1, 6-3. Ericsson will play his next singles match Thursday.

Action continues tomorrow at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas, Nev.
