
Utah State Performs Well in Doubles Action At ITA Regionals

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Utah State's men's tennis team played well in doubles action at ITA Regionals in Las Vegas, Nevada on Thursday. Seniors Mike Banks and Jonas Tyden beat Portland State's Tanner Svoboda and Alex VanDershelden, 8-5, in the round of 64. Senior Fernando Gallegos and sophomore Alex Thatcher partnered to beat Brigham Young's Tyler Clonts and A.J. Young, 8-4, while teammates freshman Jakob Asplund and sophomore Oscar Ericsson battled but fell to New Mexico's Miles Bugby and Derek Lynch, 8-6. In singles action, Asplund won in the second round of consolations, 6-2, 6-2, against Varun Gunaseeian. Ericsson fell in the round of 64 to Boise State's Piotr Dilaj, 6-3, 6-2. Action continues Friday at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas, Nev.
