Aggie Men's Tennis Sends Two Teams to the Doubles Round of 16 at the ITA Mountain Regional Championship

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - On day two of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mountain Regional Championship, two Aggie doubles teams advanced to the round of 16 with a pair of convincing wins.
The doubles team of freshmen Dennis Baumgartner and Sebastian Schneider advanced with a win over Northern Colorado's team of Mitchel Knight and Jake Sheldon (8-5) who had previously upset the ninth-seeded UNLV team.
In singles, Baumgartner's run came to an end in the round of 32, when he lost to Nevada's Ryan Andrada in a close, three-set match (6-2, 1-6, 6-3).
In the consolation round of the singles tournament, Montana's Mikolaj Caruk defeated senior Matt Thatcher (6-3, 6-2), while Schneider was defeated by Air Force's Ali Rizvi (6-1, 6-3). Michael Moya of Northern Colorado defeated junior Curran Wearmouth (6-7, 7-5, 7-6), while Whiting lost to Air Force's Andrew Parks (6-2, 6-1).
Then, the Aggies went on a streak. Freshman Tomas Cosmai defeated in-state foe Weber State's Anthony Trabert (4-6, 6-4, 7-6), while senior Fredrik Peterson defeated Northern Colorado's Jake Sheldon (6-4, 7-5). Junior Sean Levesque captured a victory over Air Force's Dillon Launius (6-1, 6-3), and freshman Dylan Harlow defeated Idaho State's Cody Miller (6-3, 6-3). All four earned their way to the next round of play with Sweet, who had earned a first round bye.
Levesque beat Montana's Ethan Vaughn (7-6, 3-6, 6-2) in the consolation round of 64, while Sweet defeated Montana State's Diego Campos (7-6, 7-6). Montana's Semion Branzburg defeated Cosmai (6-1, 4-6, 6-3), while Markus Schleuter, out of Montana State, beat Peterson (4-6, 7-6, 6-3). Utah's Alejandro Medinilla defeated Harlow (6-3, 6-1).
In the doubles consolation bracket, the team of Levesque and Peterson lost to the mixed team of Utah's Justin Archer and Boise State's Abe Hewko (8-3) while Harlow and Thatcher lost to Northern Colorado's Austin May and Ben Gendron (8-4). Wearmouth and Cosmai advanced with a bye.
Sweet and Whiting will compete against UNLV's fourth-seeded team of Ace Matias and Denys Pume, while Baumgartner and Schneider will take on New Mexico's Rodolfo Juaregui and Hayden Sabatka.
In the consolation round, Sweet will square off against Northern Arizona's Fabio Tomasetti, while Levesque will take on New Mexico State's Thomas Douglas. In doubles, Cosmai and Wearmouth will face Nevada's Ryan Andrada and Quentin Mege.
