Feb. 1, 2014
LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's men's tennis team (2-3, 0-0 MW) continues a three-match home stand as the Montana State Bobcats travel to Logan for a Sunday dual match scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club.
The Aggies are 2-0 at home this season, as they defeated the Idaho State Bengals, 5-2, on Monday, Jan. 20, and the Montana Grizzlies, 5-2, on Friday, Jan. 31. The Aggies are 8-2 at home since the start of last season.
Against Montana, freshman Dennis Baumgartner clinched the win for the Aggies with a three set, comeback win in the first singles position. He faced four match points in the third set before winning the tie breaker and earning the fourth point for Utah State.
Utah State is led by freshman Sebastian Schneider, who went 5-2 in the fall and then won his first dual match singles event against Montana. Senior Andrew Whiting is 2-0 in dual match singles this spring, as well.
Last year, The Aggies split the season series with Montana State, winning at home 5-2 and losing on the road 4-3. Senior Fredrik Peterson and junior Matt Sweet both won their singles matches at home, while junior Sean Levesque won his singles match on the road.
