Stu Sells is in his third year on the Aggies' coaching staff after a lengthy tenure coaching high school and club basketball.
Sells was the head coach at Vallivue High School in Caldwell, Idaho, where he coached former Aggie greats Jenny (Gross) Brown and Devyn Christensen, who is now Utah State's all-time leading scorer (1,551 points). Sells led the Falcons to the 2006 Idaho Class 5A State Championship with a perfect 26-0 season. In Sells' tenure as head coach from 2005-09, he amassed a 97-28 record and led the Falcons to their first state tournament appearance in school history during the 2005-06 season, qualifying to state in six of the seven years during his tenure at Vallivue. Sells served as an assistant the previous two seasons before becoming head coach.
One of the original founders of the Idaho Flash Girls Basketball Club, Sells also coached the club for five years, coaching and mentoring over 25 players who earned college scholarships. Sells has faced four of his former players since joingin USU, as former Flash players Stacie Gross, who is the younger sister of Jenny, as well as Lauren Lenhardt who played for Boise State, while Kylie Brown played for BYU and Kali Roche played for Utah Valley.
In addition to coaching, Sells is also the owner of Register Graphics, a product branding company in Nampa, Idaho, that he and his wife, Sandra, have owned and operated for the past 23 years.
Sells, who went to college at Northwest Nazarene College in Caldwell, Idaho, and his wife, Sandra, have two children, a son, Kyle and a daughter, Cassie. Sells also has one grandson, Clayton.
