USU Women Go Cold From The Field In 63-36 Loss To Long Beach State

Long Beach State jumped out to a 23-0 lead and held Utah State scoreless until Camille Brox made the second of two free throws with 5:15 left in the first half en route to a 63-36 win in Big West Conference women's basketball action here Saturday night.
With the win LBSU improved to 11-5 overall and 6-2 in the Big West, while USU fell to 10-7 and 5-3 in league play.
Utah State missed its first 19 shots from the field before Kalhie Quinones hit a three-pointer at the 4:14 mark of the first half. By that time Long Beach State led 23-4. The visitors then took a 32-9 advantage into the lockerroom.
The Aggies made just two of 25 field goal attempts in the first half and finished the game 12 of 60 for 20 percent. LBSU shot 43.4 percent and out-rebounded the Aggies 51-35.
Petra Glaser and Jeannie Saunders led LBSU with 15 and 12 points respectively. USU was led by Brittany Tressler, who scored nine points.
Both teams had trouble handing the ball as LBSU had 26 turnovers and USU committed 23 miscues. The Aggies struggled at the free throw line as well, making just eight of 16 free throw attempts. LBSU meanwhile connected on 15 of 24 charity tosses.
LBSU coasted to the victory as the Aggies never got closer than 18 points in the second half.
USU will host Cal Poly on Thursday and UC Santa Barbara on Saturday. The Cal Poly game will tipoff at 7 p.m., while Saturday's game begins at 2 p.m.
