LOGAN, Utah - Utah State junior guard Jennifer Schlott was named Western Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 14-20.
She was also named the America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week. This was Schlott's first WAC Player of the Week honor and second USU Student-Athlete of the Week award, having earned the award on Dec. 31.
The Mesa, Ariz., native helped Utah State to a 2-0 record last weekend with a pair of wins over New Mexico State (65-63) and Denver (85-69). Against NM State, Schlott scored 21 points and had a career-high-tying seven rebounds, to go along with seven assists and four steals. She also had the assist on Makenlee Williams' game-winning three-pointer with one second remaining in the game. Against Denver, Schlott scored 15 points and tied her career high with nine assists, while grabbing six rebounds. For the week, she averaged 18.0 points, 8.0 assists, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals, while shooting 47.8 percent from the field (11-of-23) and 86.7 percent at the free throw line (13-of-15).
The Aggies have now won two-straight games and six of their last eight. For the season, Schlott is second on the team in scoring, averaging 14.0 points per game. She is now third in the league in assists, averaging 4.17 apg.
Utah State (8-10, 5-2 WAC) hits the road to take on UT Arlington (3-14, 1-6 WAC) on Thursday, Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. (MT). The Aggies will conclude the brief two-game road trip at Louisiana Tech (8-9, 4-3 WAC), on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 6 p.m. (MT).

MEN'S BASKETBALL - Junior guard Marvin Jean (Harriman, N.Y.) averaged 7.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals in a pair of road losses at New Mexico State (64-51) and at Denver (68-57) last weekend. Jean began his week with two rebounds, one assist and one steal at NMSU and then scored a career-high 14 points against DU in his second start of the season to go along with four rebounds, two assists and one steal. Versus the Pioneers, he was 4-of-6 from three-point range and 2-for-2 at the free throw line. For the week, Jean shot 44.4 percent from the field (4-9), 66.7 percent from three-point range (4-6) and was 2-for-2 at the free throw line.
GYMNASTICS - Sophomore Sarah Landes (Edmond, Okla.) finished second in the all-around in Utah State's 194.875-191.250 loss at Boise State last weekend as she tied for second on the beam (9.800), was fifth on the floor exercise (9.675), tied for sixth on bars (9.700), and finished eighth on the vault (9.625).
MEN'S TENNIS - Senior Sven Poslusny (Lorrach, Germany) posted a straight sets win at No. 1 singles (7-5, 6-3) in Utah State's 4-3 loss at Idaho State last week. Poslusny also teamed with sophomore Marcus Fritz at the first doubles position and lost, 8-4.
WOMEN'S TENNIS - Sophomore McKenzie Davis (Salt Lake City, Utah) won both of her matches last week in helping Utah State to a 7-0 home win against Idaho State. In singles play, Davis posted a straight sets win at the No. 1 spot (6-1, 6-0) and teamed with senior Jaci West for an 8-1 doubles victory at the first position.
MEN'S TRACK & FIELD - Sophomore Briton Page (Centerville, Utah) won his heat by more than six seconds in the men's 800m and placed second-overall with a time of 1:51.69 (1:51.07 ALT) this past weekend at the University of New Mexico hosted Cherry & Silver Invitational. With the time, Page ranks first in the WAC in the 800m this season as well as ranking seventh in the event in school history.
WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD - Senior Alex Litzsinger (Pocatello, Idaho) won her heat in the women's mile and placed second-overall with a time of 4:59.08 (4:52.56 ALT) at the University of New Mexico hosted Cherry & Silver Invitational this past weekend. Litzsinger has the fastest time in the women's mile in the WAC this season, along with ranking 10th in school history in the event.
