LOGAN, Utah - - Senior guard Jennifer Schlott became the first Utah State women's basketball player to be named to the Capital One Academic All-District® team on Thursday.

The 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-District ® Women's Basketball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One has been the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA's Academic All-America teams programs since 2011.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

Schlott, a native of Mesa, Ariz., currently has a 3.48 in marketing. She is a three-time Western Athletic Conference academic honoree. Last season, she was also named to the all-WAC second team. She is one of only two players in the Mountain West to be recognized along with Colorado State's Caitlin Duffy, who was honored by District 7. There was one other player from the state of Utah as BYU's Jennifer Hamson also earned District 8 honors.

This season, the senior leads the Mountain West in scoring, averaging 24.2 points per game. She is also the conference leader in assists with 6.2 apg. She has scored in double figures in all 19 games this season. Schlott also leads the conference with four 30+ performances this season.

With four assists in USU's win against New Mexico on Jan. 29, she is now just nine away from tying Aggie-great Taylor Richards (2005-08), who had 371 career assists.

Schlott and the Aggies are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 1, taking on Wyoming at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum at 7 p.m. USU will then prepare for a two-game road trip at Nevada Wednesday, on Feb. 5 and at Boise State on Saturday, Feb. 8.
