LOGAN, Utah - Utah State guard Danyelle Snelgro has been named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week as well as American First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week for Feb. 2-8. This is the first WAC Player of the Week honor for Snelgro.

The senior from Altadena, Calif., finished with a career-high 29 points on 9-of-19 shooting to go along with four assists and three steals in the Aggies' 63-52 win over first-place Nevada. The win was Utah State's first ever in Reno and knocked the Wolf Pack out of the top spot in the WAC. The Aggies improved to 11-12 overall and 5-5 in the WAC with the win.

Snelgro is the third women's basketball player to earn America First Credit Union USU Athlete of the Week honors this season. Senior guard Ana Pares has been honored twice, while junior forward Lydia Whitehead earned the award once.

Utah State men's basketball player Gary Wilkinson also earned WAC Player of the Week this week. This is first time since Feb. 12, 2007 that two Utah State basketball players have earned WAC Player of the Week in the same week. The last time this happened men's basketball player Jaycee Carroll and women's basketball player Jenny Gross were both honored by the conference.

Gross was the last WAC Player of the Week for the women's basketball team. Snelgro is the fourth overall WAC Player of the Week with Taylor Richards and Brittany (Tresslar) Phillips joining Snelgro and Gross.
