Utah State Women's Basketball Earns Ninth Seed in 2018 Mountain West Championships

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's basketball has earned the No. 9 seed in the 2018 Mountain West Championships and will play No. 8 Air Force in the first round of the tournament on Monday, March 5.

The Aggies (7-22, 5-13 MW) will open the tournament in a 3 p.m. (MT) game against the Air Force Falcons (5-24, 4-13 MW) at the Thomas & Mack Center. Utah State and Air Force split the regular-season meetings, with each team winning its home contests.

No. 7 Nevada (14-15, 7-11 MW) will take on No. 10 San Diego State (11-18, 5-13 MW) at 5:30 p.m., while No. 6 New Mexico (22-9, 10-8 MW) and No. 11 San José State (7-22, 4-14 MW) will close the first day of competition at 8 p.m.

The slate of games on Tuesday, March 6, will start with the winner between Utah State and Air Force taking on top-seeded Boise State (20-9, 14-4 MW) at 1 p.m. No. 4 Fresno State (16-13, 11-7 MW) and No. 5 Colorado State (19-10, 11-7 MW) will play at 3:30 p.m., while the winner of the game between Nevada and San Diego State will take on No. 2 UNLV (19-10, 14-4 MW) at 7 p.m. The night will end with the winner between New Mexico and San José State will play No. 3 Wyoming (20-9, 13-5 MW) at 9:30 p.m.

The semifinal games are set for Wednesday, March 7 at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. The teams will be playing for the chance to play in the Championship game on Friday, March 9, at 1 p.m. and earn the league’s automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.

For the fifth consecutive year, the Mountain West Network will provide comprehensive coverage of the Mountain West Basketball Championships, which will be held March 5-10 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. All 10 women's tournament games, as well as the three men's first round contests, will be broadcast exclusively by the MWN. In addition, postgame press conferences from all 20 tournament games will be available live through a variety of network and social platforms. Fans can watch all of the live MWN broadcasts for free, whether live or on-demand, on the Mountain West Network at TheMW.com. These broadcasts will also be available on each institution's official athletics website and WatchStadium.com.

 

 

Live stats and social media updates of each game will also be provided, while the Utah State games will continue to be broadcast on Aggie Radio. Links to each option will be available to Aggie fans prior to each game.
