Women's Basketball's Johnson Named America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's basketball senior guard Jenna Johnson was named America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 2.
This was the first career honor for the senior. This is the sixth honor this year for the women's basketball team as senior guard Devyn Christensen has been honored twice and junior guard Jennifer Schlott twice.
Johnson (Wasilla, Alaska) helped guide Utah State to a pair of home wins last weekend against Louisiana Tech (70-56) and UT Arlington (81-57). Against the Lady Techsters, Johnson scored 13 points to go along with seven rebounds, one assist and one steal. Against the Mavericks, she posted her eighth double-double of the season and ninth of her career with 17 points and a career-high 14 rebounds, while adding six steals and one assist. For the week, Johnson averaged 15.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 1.0 assists per game, while shooting 47.4 percent from the field (9-19), 25.0 percent from three-point range (1-4) and 84.6 percent from the free throw line (11-13).
With the win against Louisiana Tech, the Aggies earned their first-ever home win against the Lady Techsters. Utah State (16-11, 13-3 WAC) also ended Western Athletic Conference play undefeated at home for the first time in school history. The Aggies were 9-0 in league play at home this season.
This week, the Aggies hit the trail for a pair of road games. Utah State will take on Texas State (9-18, 3-13 WAC) on Thursday, March 7 at 5:30 p.m. (MT). The Aggies will complete their regular-season schedule at UTSA (14-13, 8-8 WAC) on Saturday, March 9 at 5 p.m. (MT).

OTHER UTAH STATE NOMINEES MEN'S BASKETBALL - Junior guard TeNale Roland (Louisville, Ky.) scored in double-figures in back-to-back games as Utah State lost at No. 25 Louisiana Tech (81-64) and at UT Arlington (61-46) last weekend. Against the Bulldogs, Roland scored 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting, and grabbed a career-high seven rebounds to go along with two assists, while playing a career-high 30 minutes. Against the Mavericks, the junior once again scored 12 points to go along with six rebounds, one assist and one steal, while playing a career-high 40 minutes. For the week, Roland averaged 12.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.5 steals per game, while shooting 36.0 percent from the field (9-25), 36.4 percent from three-point range (4-11) and 66.7 percent from the free throw line (2-3).
GYMNASTICS - Sophomore Susie Miller (Fair Oaks, Calif.) finished tied for third on the beam with a career-best 9.750 in Utah State's 193.800-193.400 loss at Sacramento State last weekend. Miller also tied for fifth on floor with a 9.700 and placed 10th on vault with a 9.550.
SOFTBALL - Sophomore infielder Nicole Arata (Ewa Beach, Hawaii) hit .500 (7-14) this past weekend at the San Diego Classic as Utah State lost games to New Mexico (4-2), San Diego (4-3), San Diego State (4-1), Fresno State (9-6) and Boise State (2-0). Her best game of the weekend was against Fresno State as she went 1-for-2 at the plate with three RBI, two walks and a run scored on a two-run home run, which is the first of her career. For the tournament, Arata had three runs batted in, three runs scored, and hit one home run to go along with two bases on balls
WOMEN'S TENNIS - Senior Jaci West (La Quinta, Calif.) went 1-1 in doubles play and lost both of her singles matches as Utah State lost at Arizona State and at Arizona last weekend by scores of 7-0. Against the Sun Devils, West teamed with sophomore partner McKenzie Davis to post an 8-6 win at the first doubles position. West then fell at No. 2 singles in straight sets (6-2, 6-3). Against the Wildcats, West lost in straight sets at No. 2 singles (6-4, 6-0) and teamed with Davis for an 8-5 loss at the first doubles position.
MEN'S TRACK - Freshman Briton Page (Centerville, Utah) won his second-straight men's 800m with a personal-best and WAC season-best time of 1:50.36 at the UW Final Qualifier this past weekend. With the time, Page now ranks third in the school history books for the event, while also ranking 54th in the nation this season.
WOMEN'S TRACK - Senior Alex Litzsinger (Pocatello, Idaho) broke the school record in the women's 3,000m with a time of 9:41.22 to place fifth overall at the UW Final Qualifier this past weekend. With the time, Litzsinger ranks third in the WAC this season.
