Aggies Face Vandals Saturday On Senior Night

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State wraps up regular-season action hosting Idaho (3-24, 2-13 WAC) on Saturday, March 8 at 7 p.m. Saturday is "Senior Night" as the Aggies will be honoring their three seniors: guard Taylor Richards along with forwards Jamelah Brown and Jenny Gross. The USU Athletic Department is inviting International students to Saturday's game. All International students will receive free admission along with their immediate family by presenting the coupon e-mailed to them. The Aggies fell to Boise State, 65-57, on Thursday and are now 9-18 overall. Utah State is seventh in the WAC with a 5-10 league record. The Aggies are led by Richards' 10.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Gross is averaging 9.7 ppg and leads the team with 5.6 rpg and posted her third career double-double on Thursday night, record 12 points and 11 rebounds against Boise State. As a team, Utah State is third in the WAC in free throw percentage (.697), third in steals (9.48 spg) and eighth in assists (10.93 apg). If Utah State beats Idaho on Saturday and New Mexico State beats Hawai'i, USU will be the sixth-seed for the WAC tournament. If the Aggies lose to the Vandals, they will be the seventh-seed or if Utah State beats Idaho and Hawai'i beats New Mexico State, USU will also be the seventh-seed. Idaho is 3-24 overall and is eighth in the WAC with a 2-13 conference record after defeating San Jose State, 77-66, on Saturday. The Vandals are led by Katie Madison's 14.0 ppg and 6.6 rpg, while Yinka Olorunnife is averaging 9.3 ppg and 7.5 rpg. As a team, Idaho is fifth in the WAC in blocked shots (3.44 bpg) and seventh in steals (8.22 spg). This will be the 13th meeting between Utah State and Idaho. The Vandals lead the series, 9-3, winning earlier this season, 70-64, in overtime on Jan. 19 at Moscow.
Utah State will be at best the sixth-seed for the WAC Tournament, March 11-15 at Las Cruces, N.M. USU will open action on Wednesday, March 12th with the quarterfinal game.
