LOGAN, Utah -
Utah State women's basketball head coach Jerry Finkbeiner has announced the remainder of the team's 2017-18 competition season with the non-conference portion of the Aggies' schedule.
Non-conference action will include 11 official games, four of which will be played at home at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The Aggies will also play one exhibition game. The non-conference schedule will feature games against three Pac-12 teams, including Oregon State, which finished the 2016-17 season ranked eighth in the AP Top 25. Through the preseason, the Aggies will face six in-state opponents, along with border foe Idaho State.
Utah State will open the year in exhibition action against Westminster, on Saturday, Nov. 4. Official competition will begin the next week, as the Aggies travel to play at UC Irvine, the second game of the home-and-home series between the teams, on Friday, Nov. 10. The Aggies will then return home for a pair of weekday games, including Dixie State on Tuesday, Nov. 14, and Arizona on Friday, Nov. 17. The month of November will end with games at Southern Utah and Idaho State on Nov. 21 and Nov. 27, respectively.
The first week of December will find the Aggies away from the mainland, as Utah State will play in the Maui Classic, hosted by Oregon State, Dec. 1-2. On the island, USU will play games against the Beavers and Montana State, while Mountain West foe Nevada will also participate in the tournament. On the return home, the Aggies will play at BYU on Wednesday, Dec. 6, and at Utah Valley on Saturday, Dec. 9.
The non-conference portion of Utah State's season will conclude with a pair of home games, as the Aggies host Denver on Saturday, Dec. 16, and Utah on Monday, Dec. 18.
Utah State will open Mountain West competition at San José State on Thursday, Dec. 28. The conference season will feature home-and-home games against eight of the 10 teams, while the Aggies will face San Diego State and Colorado State just once each. The 2017-18 Mountain West Championships will be held March 5-9, at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nev.
Utah State returns eight letterwinners, along with two redshirt players, to the court for the 2017-18 season. Joining those are three newcomers, in Laura Dalton, Taylor Franson and Emmie Harris. Finkbeiner returns for his sixth season at the helm of the program. Last season, the Aggies finished the year with a 17-15 record, going 9-9 in Mountain West play.
