LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's basketball head coach Jerry Finkbeiner will head to Colorado Springs, Colo., for Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Media Days that will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 15-16 at the conference offices.

The 2013-14 Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Preseason Poll and the Preseason all-Mountain West Conference team will be announced Tuesday morning, and the league's 11 coaches will visit with media, as well as film Mountain West commercials and PSAs.

USU head coach Jerry Finkbeiner is part of the six coaches who will be in action on Tuesday, joined by Air Force's Andrea Williams, Boise State's Gordy Presnell, Nevada's Jane Albright, San José State's Jamie Craighead and New Mexico's Yvonne Sanchez. On Wednesday, Fresno State's Raegan Pebley, Colorado State's Ryun Williams, UNLV's Kathy Olivier, Wyoming's Joe Legerski and San Diego State's Stacie Terry will speak.

This is the Aggies' inaugural season in the Mountain West after eight seasons in the Western Athletic Conference. Finkbeiner begins his second season at the helm of the Aggie squad. In his first season, USU went 18-14 overall and 14-4 in WAC action. The Aggies finished second in the WAC for the second-straight season. Utah State also advanced to postseason for the third-straight season after reaching the first round of the Women's Basketball Invitational.

 

 

The Aggies have seven new players on the roster this season, including transfers guards Mariah Miles (Oral Roberts) and Jasmine Porter (San Diego State), who both sat out last season. USU welcomes three freshmen guards in Elizabeth Landreth, Shelby Cloninger and Lynette Johnson. International transfers forward Tijana Djukic and guard Ingrida Strikas both will be immediately available this season.

USU welcomes back three starters in senior guard Jennifer Schlott, junior forward Franny Vaaulu and sophomore guard Makenlee Williams. Schlott was a second-team all-WAC honoree last season, averaging 14.3 points and 4.5 assists per game. Vaaulu averaged 8.8 ppg to go along with 5.6 rpg, while as a freshman Williams averaged 7.2 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.

Utah State opens action on Tuesday, Nov. 5 in an exhibition against Northwest Nazerene at 7 p.m. The season officially begins on Saturday, Nov. 9 against Black Hills State at 7 p.m. at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
