LOGAN, Utah -
Utah State (0-1) heads out on the road for the first time this season, facing Portland State (1-0) on Friday, Nov. 16 at 8 p.m. (MT).
The Aggies opened up the season with a 67-66 loss at home against Pacific on Friday. Utah State women's basketball tied up the game at 66-all with 22 seconds remaining but a Pacific free throw with five seconds remaining dealt Utah State a 67-66 season-opening loss, Friday night at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
Senior guard Taylor Richards led the Aggies in scoring, netting 18 points and added six rebounds. Junior forward Lindsey Shipley and Snelgro both tallied 14 points in the game, while senior center Jenny Gross posted 10 points along with a game-high eight rebounds, as Utah State tied Pacific with 36 rebounds each.
Head coach Raegan Pebley and the Aggies have three starters among nine letterwinners returning from last season's squad that posted an 11-18 overall record and a 7-9 mark in the Western Athletic Conference. Gross, Richards and junior guard Danyelle Snelgro are the three leading returners, as well as senior forward Jamelah Brown.
Richards was tabbed to the preseason all-WAC second-team and enters her final season at USU as the Aggies' record holder for career assists with 296.
