USU Women's Basketball Second in the Nation in Free Throw Percentage
Utah State's women's basketball team moved up to second in the country in free throw percentage, according to the latest NCAA statistics, released on Monday.

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's women's basketball team moved up to second in the country in free throw percentage, according to the latest NCAA statistics, released on Monday.

Utah State moved up to second in the nation in free-throw percentage (81.7 percent) behind the country's leader Richmond (83.8 percent). The Aggies are 174-of-213 from the charity stripe this season. USU is also 28th in the NCAA statistics in three-point field goal percentage (35.8 percent). Vanderbilt is first in the country (44.1 percent).

Senior forward Ashlee Brown is 22nd in the nation in double-doubles this season with four. She is also 28th in the country in rebounds per game, averaging 10.1 rpg.

Senior Brooke Jackson is up to second in the Western Athletic Conference in free throw percentage (.896). Brown and Jackson have scored the most free throws by far in the conference with Brown sinking 53 and Jackson making 43.

Brown is now the only player in the WAC who is averaging a double-double. Brown brings down 10.3 rebounds and 17.5 points per game. She is the league leader in rebounds and is third in scoring. New Mexico State's Tabytha Wampler was averaging a double-double but has dropped to 9.4 rpg.

The Aggies will have three more games before the Christmas holiday. This week, Utah State takes on in-state rival BYU on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 2 p.m., which is the first half of a doubleheader with the USU men who take on Seattle at 7 p.m. Both games will be shown live on KCSG. The Aggies' final games before Santa arrives will be on Monday, Dec. 19 at home against Northern Arizona at 12 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 22 at Boise State at 3:30 p.m.
