Christensen Named WAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week Monday

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State senior guard Devyn Christensen has been named Western Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 17-23. The senior also was named College Sports Madness WAC Player of the Week for her strong play in Utah State's two home games.
This is her second WAC Player of the Week honor of the season and the third of her career. She also earned the award on Nov. 26 after the Aggies won the Great Alaska Shootout.
The Caldwell, Idaho native averaged 22.5 points on 45 percent shooting, including 46 percent from three-point range, to go along with 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game as the Aggies went 1-1 last week. She made the game-winning three-pointer with 10 seconds remaining to give Utah State a 70-69 against South Dakota, scoring 13 points in the second half to help the Aggies overcome an eight-point halftime deficit. She also grabbed a team-leading seven rebounds. In a 71-70 loss to UC Irvine, Christensen had 20 points, six boards and four assists.
Christensen helped the Aggies break a season-long five game losing streak and captured their first home win of the season. She leads the team in scoring, averaging 22.2 points per game which leads the WAC. She is also third in the WAC, averaging 3.64 steals per game.
USU is back from the holiday break on Saturday, Dec. 29 opening WAC play against UTSA at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum at 7 p.m. The Aggies then face another newcomer Texas State on Dec. 21 at 7 p.m.
