Josh Nilson was named a Utah State gymnastics assistant coach by first-year head coach Nadalie Walsh in August, 2013.

Nilson spent the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Texas Woman's University. In his time with the Pioneers, Nilson was named the 2012 USA Gymnastics and Midwest Independent Conference Assistant Coach of the Year after coaching the Pioneers' uneven bars team to a 48.440 season average. On an individual level, he coached one student-athlete to the 2012 USAG Collegiate national title on bars.

No stranger to the Utah State gymnastics program, Nilson spent six years as a part of the Aggie staff before moving to Texas. He spent the 2011 season as a full-time assistant after being a part-time and student assistant for the 2006-10 seasons. Additionally, he coached at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club and the Tytans gymnastics program for three years while helping to found Altius Gymnastics Academy.

"I'm very excited to work with Nadalie. I think she has a good vision for the program. I'm excited to be back home," Nilson said when hired. "It's a great school. I can't wait to be a part of it again."

Nilson is married to the former Amanda Corn, the daughter of longtime Aggie coach Ray Corn. The couple has three sons, Tristan (5), Ezekiel (2) and Remington (6 months). Nilson graduated from Utah State in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in law and constitutional studies with a minor in family science.
