Posted an 8.950 on floor (12th) at the Southern Utah dual, as well as an 8.950 in a bars exhibition performance... Recorded a 9.075 on floor (12th) and an 8.975 on bars (12th) at the Sacramento State dual... Did not compete in the home duals vs. Boise State and Utah, as well as the road dual at Boise State due to injury suffered at Sacramento State... Returned to action with a bang, logging a career-high 9.750 on floor (T4th) in the Cal State Fullerton dual... Scored a 9.625 on floor (17th) at the Southern Utah tri-meet with Iowa... Registered a 9.600 on floor (T26th) at the WAC Championships. 2010 (FRESHMAN) -- Was USU's top all-arounder at the Central Michigan dual in collegiate debut with a 37.925 (4th), logging a 9.575 on vault (7th), a 9.500 on bars (9th), a 9.450 on beam (4th) and a 9.400 on floor (8th)... Competed in three events at the New Hampshire Invite as a precaution for a possible injury, posting a 9.725 on floor (T-8th), a 9.550 on vault (14th) and a 9.100 on beam (20th)... For the second time in three meets, was USU's top all-arounder at the Southern Utah dual, logging career-highs in three events plus all-around score with a 38.600, good for second, as well as top marks of 9.650 on beam (T-4th), 9.675 on bars (7th) and 9.600 on vault (9th) in addition to a 9.675 on floor (7th)... In home meet against Boise State, finished third in the all-around (38.050), posting a 9.600 on vault (7th), 9.525 on bars (7th), 9.300 on the beam (9th) and 9.625 on floor (5th)... Missed five meets with an injury... Returned to limited action in the San Jose State dual, competing on floor only, posting a 9.600 (10th)... Placed 11th on the floor (9.500) in the home meet against Sacramento State... Logged a 9.625 on floor (25th) at the WAC Championships. CLUB/HIGH SCHOOL -- Competed for South Coast Gymnastics Club and was club teammates with current Aggie teammate Rebecca Holliday... Coached by former Chinese Olympians Xiaoping Li and Jia Wen... Qualified for nationals in 2005... Placed 20th in the all-around at the 2009 Level 10 Senior B Regional meet with a 35.300... Also placed11th on beam (9.100), tied for 15th on bars (8.825), tied for 19th on vault (8.975) and placed 23rd on floor (8.400)... At the Southern California State Championships, placed ninth in the all-around for Level 10 Senior B with a 35.275, and was third on floor with a 9.400. PERSONAL -- A journalism major... Daughter of Angel, L.A. County Assistant Fire Chief and Laura Montoya... Has two younger sisters... Enjoys going to the beach and camping. |
