CORN SAYS— Kim is a fifth-year senior whom we expect will perform on beam and bars like never before. She spent all summer learning new skills and refining skills that earned her a spot in both the beam and bars starting lineups last year. 2002 (JUNIOR)— Won the event title in uneven bars at San Jose State (Jan. 2) with a 9.900, a career and season high... Set a career best on beam at the Western Gymnastics Conference meet on March 22 with a 9.750... Finished in the top three on bars twice as a junior... Her bars score at San Jose State was topped only by Katie Rutherford’s 9.925 at the Western Gymnastics Conference... Ended the season with a 9.496 bars average in 14 meets, and a 9.553 beam average, competing in eight meets. 2001 (SOPHOMORE)— Saw limited action on the bars and beam.... Recorded a then-career-high 9.700 on the beam twice as a sophomore... Averaged a 9.221 on beam over seven meets... Scored a career-high 9.800 on bars at the Big West Championship meet (Mach 24)... Concluded the year with a 9.600 bar average. 2000 (FRESHMAN)— Competed in two meets, with a high score of 9.00 on beam against Boise State. 1999 (REDSHIRT)— Sat out the season as a redshirt. CLUB/HIGH SCHOOL— Level 10 gymnast for Ken Wright and Amy Durham at Rocky Mountain Gymnastics... Qualified for regionals in each of her four high school years... Captured the beam title at the state meet as a senior and was second in the all-around at the Capitol Cup... Finished first on the floor at the Jewel City meet as a junior and third in the all-around... As a sophomore, she took second in the state meet on beam and third in the all-around... Member of Highland’s dance company for two years. PERSONAL— Interdisciplinary studies in health and fitness major... Daughter of Taunnie Soderberg and Brent Scharman...
