Utah State Gymnast Bailey McIntire Named America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State gymnast Bailey McIntire was named the America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 12.
McIntire, a freshman from Kearney, Mo., helped Utah State to a 191.750-191.650 win at Iowa last weekend. In her Aggie debut, McIntire finished second in the all-around with a 38.750 as she won the floor exercise (9.850), placed tied for second on the vault (9.775), finished fourth on bars (9.675), and tied for sixth on beam (9.450).
As a team, Utah State scored a 48.700 on vault, 47.750 on bars, 47.275 on beam and 48.025 on floor. Iowa notched a 48.275 on vault, 47.950 on bars, 47.975 on beam and 47.750 on floor, for a total of 191.950 prior to the deduction.
Up next, Utah State will head to Cedar City to take on Southern Utah on Jan. 17. As in-state rivals and former members of the Western Athletic Conference, the Aggies and the Thunderbirds have a long history of competition between each other. USU will then return to Logan to host in-state rival BYU on Friday, Jan. 24 at 7 p.m.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL - Senior guard Jennifer Schlott (Mesa, Ariz.) led all scorers with 22 points and added five rebounds, five assists and three steals in Utah State's 76-72 home loss to Nevada last weekend. For the game, Schlott was 9-of-20 form the field (.450), 1-of-2 from three-point range (.500) and 3-of-5 at the free throw line (3-5).
MEN'S TENNIS - Junior Marcus Fritz (Stockholm, Sweden) posted a straight-sets win at No. 3 singles (6-2, 6-3) and teamed with senior Fredrik Peterson for a 6-3 loss at the first doubles position in Utah State's 4-3 loss at No. 45 BYU in its season-opener last weekend.
