LOGAN, Utah - To conclude its three-meet road swing, Utah State gymnastics, ranked No. 46 in the country, will meet sixth-ranked Oklahoma, No. 13 Denver and No. 59 Air Force in a quad meet hosted by Denver on Saturday, Feb. 9. Action gets underway at 6 p.m. (MT) at DU's Hamilton Gymnasium.

USU takes a 1-4 ledger into Saturday's meet, while OU is 9-0, DU is 7-1 and Air Force is 1-5.

The Aggies have two gymnasts hailing from the Denver area in Littleton native and sophomore Heather Heinrich (Dakota Ridge HS/Colorado Gymnastics Institute) as well as Centennial native and freshman Chelsea Marquardt (Eaglecrest HS/Champion's Gymnastics).

USU assistant coach DeEtte Kozlow is in her first year with the Aggies, coming to the Utah State staff after 16 years at the Colorado Gymnastics Institute and she also received her bachelor's degree from the Colorado Institute of Art in 1987.

First-year Aggie assistant and former USU gymnast Alex Martin, is a native of Longmont, Colo., (Longmont HS/Windsor Gymnastics Academy).

Utah State has a 191.065 season-average overall, ranking sixth in the WAC and eighth in the North Central Region.

The Aggies are currently ranked fourth on vault (48.390) in the league and sixth in the region, while ranking fifth in the WAC and eighth in the region on both beam (47.240) and floor (47.825), as well as sixth in the conference and eighth in the region on bars (47.560).

Junior Nicki Felley has USU's highest average in the all-around (38.125), while freshman Nicole Simoneau leads the team on bars (9.810). Freshman Jasmine Minion leads the Aggies in average on vault with a 9.795 while senior Megan Tschida has a team-leading average on floor (9.806).

 

 

The Aggies return to the friendly confines of the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on Friday, Feb. 15, taking on in-state foe BYU along with New Hampshire in a triangular.
