AWESOME ALL-AROUNDERS - Friday's meet features two of the top all-arounders in not just the WAC, but their respective regions and the country as well, in SJSU's Thomasina Wallace and USU's Sarah Landes... Wallace, a senior, is tops in the WAC, fifth in the West region and tied for 20th in the nation with a 39.205 average, including breaking SJSU's record in the all-around with a 39.400 in the Spartans' meet on Sunday... Landes, a freshman, is third in the WAC, tied for fifth in the North Central region and tied for 41st in the country with a 38.994 average

THIRD IN A ROW - Friday is the Aggies' third-straight meet at home, the third of a four-meet homestand, USU's longest stretch of home events since 2004 when USU also had a stretch of four-straight home meets.

ABOUT UTAH STATE - After steadily improving in each of its first three meets, USU had a bit of a setback last week, posting a 192.575 in a dual vs. Arizona State on Friday, a week after notching a season-high 194.050 the previous week... Utah State scored a 48.075 on vault, a 48.325 on bars, a 47.825 on beam and a 48.350 on floor, for the final score of 192.575... USU's beam and floor scores were its second-highest marks of the season on the respective apparatus.

Senior Rebecca Holliday tied ASU's Stephanie Hangartner for the bars title with 9.800 scores, and the Aggie senior tied her career-high on floor with a 9.800, tying for fifth... She finished behind teammates sophomore Paige Jones, who matched her career-best with a 9.850 to place second, while freshman Sarah Landes also equalled her top score of her career with a 9.825, tying for third... Freshman Susie Miller also posted a new career-high on the event with a 9.775, placing seventh.

Landes notched a 39.000 in the all-around, finishing third while recording her second-straight score of 39.000 or higher... Jones placed fourth in the all-around with a 37.400.

Utah State has a team-average of 192.719, which includes leading the WAC on bars with a 48.625 average, as well as posting averages of 48.250 on floor, 48.200 on vault and 47.644 on beam.

Landes is third in the WAC in the all-around, ranking tied for fifth in the North Central region and tied for 41st in the country with a 38.994 average... On beam, Landes is fourth in the conference, tied for 10th in the region and tied for 71st in the country with a 9.763 average... Landes is also tied for 90th in the country on beam with an average of 9.763.

Jones is second in the WAC, tied for seventh in the region and tied for 58th in the NCAA on vault with a 9.833 average... Jones also is fifth in the conference, 11th in the region and tied for 74th in the nation on floor with a 9.800 average.

Holliday is third in the conference, tied for 10th in the region and tied for 80th in the nation on bars with an average of 9.775... Holliday is also tied for 97th in the nation on floor with a 9.775 average.

Junior Amelia Montoya is tied for 85th in the nation on bars with a 9.769 average, ranking fourth in the WAC and 12th in the region. {See pg 10 for complete rankings}

WAC-BEST BARS - Utah State leads the WAC with a 48.625 bars average... That averages ranks third in the North Central region and 22nd in the country.

USU is fifth in the WAC in team total (192.719), floor (48.250), vault (48.200) and beam (47.644).

AGGIES SCHEDULE FULL OF NUMBERS - A total of six of USU's opponents are in this week's Top 25, an increase of one from last week's... Two of those six are in the top five as Utah (Jan. 13) is No. 1 while Oklahoma (Jan. 21) is No. 5... Other USU foes include No. 15 Boise State (Jan. 27/March 2), No. 16 Denver (March 24), No. 17 Arizona (March 16) and No. 25 Arizona State (Feb. 3)... Three other opponents are just outside the Top 25 in No. 30 San Jose State (Friday - Feb. 10/March 24), No. 31 BYU (Feb. 24/March 5) and No. 34 Southern Utah (Jan. 27/Feb. 24/March 9/March 24).

ABOUT SAN JOSE STATE - The Spartans are 4-3 overall and 1-0 in WAC action after senior Thomasina Wallace broke the San Jose State all-around school record with a 39.425 and won three events to help lead the Spartans to a 194.875-192.125 win over Southern Utah in a conference dual meet on Sunday in San Jose.

Wallace broke the old school record of 39.400 she tied in 2009... Former Spartan Shirla Choy originally set the record in March of 2003... Wallace won the vault with a 9.850, bars with a 9.900 (her fifth 9.900 in her career) and beam at 9.850.

The Spartans scored its highest team-score of the season with a 194.875, tying for the 11th best in school history... Sophomore Julia Greer won the floor with a 9.850.

On the season, Wallace leads SJSU with a 39.205 all-around average that is tops in the WAC, fifth in the West region and tied for 20th in the nation, including breaking SJSU's record in the all-around with a 39.400 in the Spartans' meet on Sunday... Wallace also leads the team with a 9.860 bars average and 9.840 beam average... She also averages 9.765 on vault and 9.740 on floor, ranking second on the team on vault and third on floor.

Freshman Cami Guyer has the top vault average for SJSU, but she has only competed once on the apparatus, posting a 9.775... Senior Katie Valleau has the Spartans' top floor average with a 9.805.

SJSU head coach Wayne Wright is in his 11th season at the helm of the Spartans' program... He has led SJSU to five NCAA Regional Championships since 2003, and coached at least two gymnasts to regionals if the team did not qualify... Two gymnasts have won Regional Championships - Thomasina Wallace on bars in 2009 and Katie Valleau on floor in 2011.

SERIES HISTORY VS. SAN JOSE STATE - USU is 12-11 all-time vs. SJSU, including 4-2 at Logan, with San Jose State's wins coming in 2010 and 2001, with USU winning two of the last three meetings in the Spectrum... Friday is the first of not only two meetings between the Aggies and Spartans, but also the first of two trips to Logan by the Spartans, as they'll return for the WAC Championships on March 24, hosted by USU at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum... USU has been on the short end of the last two meetings with SJSU, as the last time the Aggies topped the Spartans was at the 2010 WAC Championships, when USU was third with a 193.675 while SJSU was fourth with a 193.600.

TOUGH TRODDING FOR WAC TEAMS - Two of the top scores in the NCAA have been in meets vs. not only WAC teams, but both of Friday's teams as Oklahoma's winning score of 197.450 in the Texas Woman's quad meet with Utah State on Jan. 21 was the second-highest at the time and is currently is the fifth-highest score this season in the country and, only topped by a 197.575 by UCLA the next day in a win over San Jose State, which is now the third-highest... Florida has the highest score in the country with a 197.775.

SUPER 16 - The 16 gymnasts on USU's 2012 roster is the most on an Aggie roster since 2006, after having 15 on the 2011 roster, 13 on the 2010 ledger, 12 on the 2009 roster... USU had 14 gymnasts on each of the 2008 and 2007 rosters, while having 16 on the 2006 roster.

BEEHIVE STATERS - Utah State has three gymnasts from the state of Utah in senior Haley Hogan (Centerville/Viewmont HS/North Davis Gymnastics), sophomore Christina Nye (North Logan/Logan HS/Tytans Gymnastics) and freshman Ashley Follett (American Fork, Utah/American Fork HS/All American Gymnastics).

FLIPPING THE BOOKS TOO - Utah State had four gymnasts earn academic all-WAC honors last season, and three return, in seniors Haley Hogan and Rebecca Holliday, along with junior Amanda Watamaniuk.

LAST TIME OUT - Rebecca Holliday tied for the bars title and was one of four floor performers to set or tie career-highs as Utah State gymnastics notched a 192.575 while visiting Arizona State scored a 194.600 for the dual win Friday night at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

Utah State scored a 48.075 on vault, a 48.325 on bars, a 47.825 on beam and a 48.350 on floor, for the final score of 192.575. USU's beam and floor scores were its second-highest marks of the season on the respective apparatus. Arizona State won the meet with a 48.675 on vault, a 48.775 on both bars and beam and a 48.375 on floor.

USU is now 2-5 overall on the year while ASU, who entered the meet ranked No. 26 in the country, remains undefeated at 4-0, earning a win in its first road meet of the season. Friday night was the first meeting between the Aggies and Sun Devils since 2004, and was ASU's first visit to Logan since 2002.

Holliday tied ASU's Stephanie Hangartner for the bars title with 9.800 scores, and the Aggie senior tied her career-high on floor with a 9.800, tying for fifth. She finished behind teammates sophomore Paige Jones, who matched her career-best with a 9.850 to place second, while freshman Sarah Landes also equalled her top score of her career with a 9.825, tying for third. Freshman Susie Miller also posted a new career-high on the event with a 9.775, placing seventh.

Landes notched a 39.000 in the all-around, finishing third while recording her second-straight score of 39.000 or higher. Jones placed fourth in the all-around with a 37.400. ASU's Beate' Jones won the all-around with a 39.175, edging out teammate Samantha Seaman with a 39.075.

ASU's Jones and Seaman shared top honors on vault with 9.825, finishing just ahead of USU's Jones and junior Amelia Montoya, who tied for third with 9.800's. The 9.800 tied Montoya's career-best. Sun Devil Amelia Rew won the beam title with a 9.800, while Holliday tied for second with ASU's Madison Snowden, each registering 9.775.

The floor results resembled a law firm, reading Jones and Jones, as ASU's Jones won the event with a 9.875 while USU's Jones was second with her career-high tying 9.850.

After matching or posting 13 career-highs in each of its last two meets, the Aggies only set or tied six career-highs Friday night.

Opening on vault, junior Amanda Watamaniuk led off with an 8.750, falling on her landing, followed by Miller with a 9.475. Landes and Montoya then both tied their career-bests, with Landes landing a 9.725 while Montoya hit a 9.800. The scoreboard stayed with a 9.800, as USU's Jones followed with that mark. Freshman Breyanna Aufiero closed out the vault lineup with a 9.275.

USU finished with a 48.075 on vault while ASU posted a 48.775 on bars, led by Stephanie Hangartner with a 9.800.

On bars for rotation two, Holliday opened with a 9.800. Montoya followed with a 9.725, then Watamaniuk scored a 9.675 before Landes notched a 9.725. After an 8.650 by Jones, freshman Kaitlyn Betts completed the rotation with a 9.350. That gave the Aggies a 48.325 on bars, while the Sun Devils tallied a 48.675.

At the midpoint of the meet, ASU led 97.450-96.400.

For the third event, Utah State was on beam, with freshman Ashley Follet leading off with a 9.475, followed by Miller with a 9.275. Senior Haley Hogan hung a 9.625 on the board, preceding Holliday with a 9.775. Landes recorded a 9.725 before Jones rounded out the beam rotation with a 9.100, giving USU a 47.825 on beam, its second-best score on the event this season.

With three rotations in the books, ASU had a 145.825 after scoring a 48.375 on floor, while USU tallied a 144.225.

On floor for the fourth and final event, Miller started things off with a career-high 9.775. Sophomore Christina Nye notched a 9.050 before a 9.100 by Montoya, then Holliday tied her career-best with a 9.800. Landes then tied her career-best with a 9.825, before Jones completed USU's floor rotation and the night's action with a 9.850, also matching her top score of career.

The Aggies scored a 48.350 on floor, their second-highest score on the apparatus, while the Sun Devils recorded a 48.775 on beam to seal the win.

2011 REVIEW - Utah State finished with a No. 47 ranking in the Troester/GymInfo Women's Gymnastics Coaches Poll... USU had a final Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) of 192.935, a season-average of 192.483 and a season-high of 194.550... The Aggies were fourth in the WAC and eighth in the North Central final rankings... USU was also fourth in the WAC on two of the four apparatus: vault (48.400 RQS/48.173 avg./48.600 high), bars (48.555 RQS/48.308 avg./49.000 high), while ranking fifth on the other two events: beam (47.820 RQS/47.575 avg./48.625 high) and floor (48.625 RQS/48.427 avg./48.975 high).

Individually, Nicole Simoneau was fourth in the WAC, tied for 11th in the North Central region and tied for No. 55 in the country with a 9.835 RQS and a 9.765 average with a season-high of 9.875... Simoneau is also tied for 14th in the conference and 38th in the region on beam with a 9.710 RQS and a 9.584 average with a season-best of 9.750... Lyndsie Boone was tied for eighth in the WAC and tied for 24th in the region on vault with a 9.775 RQS and a 9.738 average with a high score on the season of 9.825... Jackie Dillon was tied for ninth in the WAC and tied for 21st in the region on floor with a 9.800 RQS and a 9.771 average, with a top season score of 9.850... Dillon was also sixth in the conference and 12th in the region as well as 76th in the nation in the all-around with a 38.720 RQS and 38.423 average with a season-high score of 38.150.

UTAH STATE'S RICHARDS NAMED NACGC CO-REGIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR - Utah State gymnastics head coach Jeff Richards was named the NCAA Division I National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches (NACGC) North Central Region Co-Coach of the Year, in a vote by the region's head coaches at the NCAA Division I Gymnastics North Central Regional. Richards shares the award with Utah co-head coach Megan Marsden.

Richards led five Aggie individuals to the NCAA North Central Regional Championships last Saturday in Denver, Colo. Senior Jackie Dillon was eighth in the all-around with a score of 38.450 to lead the Aggies on the night. The eighth-place finish was the highest of the night for Utah State. Freshman Rachel Vaske was 12th in the all-around with a score of 38.025. Senior Lyndsie Boone capped off an amazing Utah State career, finishing 14th in the all-around with a score of 37.950.

Kaitlyn Betts - In USU debut in dual at Utah, posted a 9.625 on bars (11th) and an 8.925 on vault (12th)... Scored a 9.725 on bars (T11th) at the Texas Woman's quad... For second time in as many meets, recorded a 9.725 on bars (T7th) in the tri-meet with Boise State and Southern Utah, as well as posting a 9.500 on vault in an exhibition performance... Notched a 9.350 on bars (10th) in the Arizona State dual.

CLUB/HIGH SCHOOL: Competed for Euro Stars Gymnastics under Peter and Tania Gueorguive... Was named the 2011 Level 10 National Champion on vault and placed eighth on bars... Placed third in the all-around at the 2010 Level 10 National Invitation Tournament... In 2008 she was the Level 9 Regional all-around and bars champion... Placed third in the all-around at 2008 Level 9 Nationals.

Ashley Follett - Logged a 9.600 on beam (8th) in first collegiate action in dual at Utah... Notched a 9.600 on beam (T11th) and an 8.450 on floor (24th) at the Texas Woman's quad... Improved on beam score in the tri-meet with Boise State and Southern Utah with a 9.675 (T10th)... Recorded a 9.475 on beam (10th) in the Arizona State dual, as well as a 9.675 on floor in an exhibition performance.

CLUB/HIGH SCHOOL: Competed for US Gold Gymnastics in Roanoke, Texas under Tina Martin... Moved to Utah where she competed with All American Gymnastics under Jamie Wysong... Named the Gymnast of the Meet in the Boise State and Southern Utah tri-meet, setting personal bests on beam, floor and her all-around competition with a winning score of 39.225, making her mark in the USU record books in the process as her winning beam score of 9.875 is tied for the fifth-best score in school history, while her 39.225 all-around score was just outside of USU's top 20 individual all-around performances... Also scored career-highs of 9.825 on floor (3rd), 9.725 on vault (12th) while also posting 9.800 on bars (3rd), just .025 off top score... Registered a 39.000 in the all-around to finish as USU's top all-arounder and third overall in the dual vs. Arizona State, posting a 9.825 on floor (T3rd), as well as 9.725's on vault (T5th), bars (T7th) and beam (T5th).

CLUB/HIGH SCHOOL: Competed for Dynamo Gymnastics under Dennis and Shannon Harrison... At the 2011 Junior Olympic Nationals, she placed 10th on floor, 15th on vault, 12th on beam and 12th in all-around... Received the Shannon Miller Award in 2009... Graduated first in her class at Deer Creek High School.

Brittney Mackins - Will not be competing this season due to an injury.

Susie Miller - In collegiate debut at Utah dual, scored a 9.650 on floor (7th), a 9.500 on beam (10th) and a 9.475 on vault (T9th)... Scored a 9.750 on floor (T10th), a 9.575 on vault (T17th) and an 8.825 on beam (23rd) in the quad meet at Texas Woman's... Improved on vault and beam scores in the tri-meet with Boise State and Southern Utah, posting 9.600 on vault (15th) and 9.575 on beam (13th) while also notching a 9.650 on floor (15th)... In the Arizona State dual, posted career-high 9.775 on floor (7th), while also notching 9.475 on vault (9th) and 9.225 on beam (11th).

CLUB/HIGH SCHOOL: Competed at Technique Gymnastics under Lisa Poarch... Was a part of the 2011 Level 10 team that took third place at the NorCal State Championship meet... Was a 2010 National Invitational Tournament qualifier... Qualified for the 2008 Western meet... Was named Gymnast of the Year for her club in both 2009 and 2011.

Amelia Montoya - Was fifth in the all-around at the Utah dual with a 38.000, posting a career-high 9.700 on bars (10th), while also notching a 9.725 on floor (6th), a 9.475 on vault (T9th) and a 9.100 on beam (12th)... Posted a 38.300 in the all-around (6th) at the Texas Woman's quad, scoring a 9.800 on bars (T5th), a 9.750 on vault (8th), a 9.725 on floor (13th) and a 9.025 on beam (T19th)...
