
USU Gymnastics Heads Into This Week Ranked 30th In The Nation
Feb. 26, 2007 LOGAN, Utah - Despite a season high score of 195.675 against Southern Utah, Utah State gymnastics dropped from 25th to 30th in the nation with a regional qualifying score of 193.205. USU's regional qualifying score moved up from a 193.085 to a 193.205. Due to teams that competed last week to qualify for an RQS, the Aggies dropped in the rankings. The Aggies rank 19th on the vault (48.810), tied for 31st on bars (48.340), 39th on beam (47.825) and are 27th in the floor exercise (48.440). Individually, Katy Schilla is tied for 21st in the nation on the vault with a regional qualifying score of 9.845. Jessica Parenti-Otte is 65th on bars with a 9.770 RQS, Jessica Parenti-Otte is 44th with a 9.770 RQS on beam, while Devin Markle is tied for 88th in the floor exercise with a 9.740 RQS. In the all-around, Jessica Parenti-Otte is 22nd with a 38.970 RQS and Meagan Lewis is 46th with a 38.440 RQS. In the WAC, Freshman Katy Schilla is ranked first in the conference in the vault with a regional qualifying score of 9.845, while Jessica Parenti-Otte ranks third with a 9.775 RQS. Heather Heinrich is also in the top-10 ranked sixth with a 9.745 RQS. The Aggies also have three gymnasts ranked in the top 10 on bars with Parenti-Otte (2nd, 9.770), Lewis (3rd, 9.760) and Ashley Barr (6th, 9.721). On balance beam, Parenti-Otte is ranked 3rd with a 9.770 RQS. Devin Markle is fourth on the floor with a 9.740 RQS, Parenti-Otte is sixth with a 9.720 and Nicki Felley is tied for 8th with a 9.705 RQS. Utah State leads the conference with a regional qualifying score of 193.105, followed by Southern Utah (192.570) in second and San Jose State (192.390) in third. Sacramento State (192.340), Boise State (191.555) and Cal State-Fullerton (190.575) round out the six in that order. Utah State leads the conference on vault (48.810), third on bars (48.430) and first on floor (48.440), while the Aggies rank fourth on beam with a 47.825 RQS. In the all-around, Parenti-Otte is ranked first with a 38.970 RQS and Lewis is sixth with a 38.440.
