QUICK TURNAROUND - USU has a quick turnaround after Friday's dual at Boise State as the Aggies return home to host in-state foe BYU on Monday, March 5 at 7 p.m. at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum... Monday will the USU's final home meet of the regular-season and will be Senior Night, honoring its two seniors, Haley Hogan and Rebecca Holliday.

MAKIN' WILLIE PROUD - USU is making Willie Nelson proud by being on the road again for the second-straight meet after a four-meet home stretch... Before Saturday's tri-meet at BYU with Southern Utah, USU's last road meet was Jan. 21 at a Texas Woman's quad meet with Oklahoma and Centenary.

CROSSING STATE LINES - Friday is also USU's first meet out of the state of Utah since Jan. 21 when the Aggies competed at a quad meet in Denton, Texas hosted by Texas Woman's... It is only the second time out of USU's four road meets thus far this season that the Aggies have competed outside the Beehive State, as they opened the season at Utah on Jan. 13 and then Saturday's tri-meet at BYU with Southern Utah... USU will venture outside the state one more time in its last two road trips, as the Aggies head to Tucson, Ariz. on March 16, for a quad meet hosted by Arizona with Air Force and Bridgeport... That comes a week after competing against Southern Utah at Cedar City, Utah.

FAMILIAR FOES - Friday is Utah State's second and final regular-season meeting with Boise State this season, as the Aggies and Broncos also met in a tri-meet hosted by USU on Jan. 27 with Southern Utah... USU was second in that meet with a 194.050 while the then 13th-ranked Broncos were third with a 193.525... It was the Aggies' first win over Boise State since the 2007 Western Athletic Conference Championships, snapping a 13-meet losing skid vs. the Broncos.

IN THE RANKINGS - Utah State is No. 44 in this week's Troester/GymInfo Women's Gymnastics National Rankings, which for the first time this season, went by Regional Qualifying Scores (RQS), as the Aggies have a 193.160 RQS... Boise State is No. 16 in the rankings with an RQS of 195.405.

ABOUT UTAH STATE - Despite having two individuals tie for event titles, Utah State gymnastics finished third at the BYU tri-meet with Southern Utah Saturday afternoon at BYU's Smith Fieldhouse, scoring a 193.625 in its first road meet in over a month... Senior Rebecca Holliday tied for the beam win with a career-high tying 9.850 while freshman Susie Miller shared the floor crown with a 9.825, just .025 shy of her career-best.

After having four-straight home meets, Saturday was the Aggies' first road meet since Jan. 21 when USU was in a quad meet hosted by Texas Woman's at Denton, Texas.

Utah State's 193.625 Saturday came from posting a season-high 48.700 on vault, as well as a 48.750 on floor, which is the Aggies' second-highest score on the event... USU registered its third-best mark on beam with a 48.025 and also scored a 48.275 on bars.

Holliday was also second in the all-around, notching a new career-high with a 38.925... Junior Amelia Montoya tied for second on bars with a 9.800, while fellow junior Amanda Watamaniuk and freshman Sarah Landes shared USU's top honors on vault, both with 9.750's... Sophomore Paige Jones was third in the all-around with a 38.750 while Landes was sixth with a 37.025.

Utah State has a team RQS of 193.160, including slipping to second in the WAC on bars with a 48.675 bars RQS, as well as posting RQS's of 48.220 on vault, 47.755 on beam and 48.410 on floor.

Freshman Sarah Landes is fifth in the WAC in the all-around with an RQS of 38.610, which ranks her 12th in the North Central region and 57th in the nation... Landes is also eighth in the conference and 23rd in the region on beam with a 9.660 RQS, as well as 11th in the league and 27th in the region on vault with an RQS of 9.720.

Junior Amelia Montoya is fifth in the WAC, 12th in the North Central region and tied for 95th in the country on bars wtih a 9.775 RQS. {See pg 11 for complete rankings}

WINNER, WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER - USU now has had six different gymnasts earn event wins, collecting 10 event titles, including four Aggie gymnasts tying for the bars title vs. SJSU on 2/10, part of a five-way logjam for the event title... Freshman Sarah Landes leads the team with five wins while senior Rebecca Holliday has four event titles... Junior Amelia Montoya, sophomore Paige Jones and freshmen Kaitlyn Betts and Susie Miller have one each.

2ND IN WAC ON BARS - After leading the WAC in bars average for most of the season, Utah State slid to No. 2 in this week's rankings, which are the first ones by RQS scores... USU has an RQS of 48.675 on bars while Denver leads the league with a 48.675... The Aggies' bars RQS ranks fourth in the North Central region and tied for 26th in the country.

USU is fifth in the WAC in team total (193.160 RQS), as well as fifth on vault (48.220 RQS), beam (47.755 RQS) and floor (48.410 RQS).

CAREER-HIGHS FOR 15 PLEASE ALEX - Utah State posted a season-high 15 career-highs on the way to its season-high 194.875 in the San Jose State dual on Feb. 10, including all six in the bars line-up... Freshman Sarah Landes led with five (all four events + all-around), followed by two by senior Rebecca Holliday (bars and beam), sophomore Paige Jones (bars and all-around) and junior Amanda Watamaniuk (bars and floor), as well as one each by junior Amelia Montoya (bars), along with freshmen Kaitlyn Betts (bars), Ashley Follett (beam) and Susie Miller (floor).

The 15 career-highs in the SJSU dual set the bar high, and the Aggies only had three career-bests in the dual against Sacramento State last Friday... USU had 13 each in the quad at Texas Woman's with Oklahoma and Centenary as well as at the tri-meet with Southern Utah and Boise State on Jan. 27.

AGGIES SCHEDULE FULL OF NUMBERS - A total of six of USU's opponents are in this week's Top 25... Two of those six are in the top seven as Oklahoma (Jan. 21) is No. 2 while Utah (Jan. 13) is No. 7... Other USU foes include this week's opponent Boise State (Jan. 27/March 2), who is No. 16, as well as No. 17 Arizona (March 16), No. 19 Denver (March 24) and No. 22 Arizona State (Feb. 3)... One other opponent is just outside the Top 25 in No. 31 San Jose State (Feb. 10/March 24).

ABOUT BOISE STATE - The 16th-ranked Broncos have an RQS of 195.405 and have a 6-4 overall record... In its last action, BSU took on No. 8 Oregon State on Friday, falling 196.875-195.375.

Freshman Kelsey Morris was the top BSU all-arounder, finishing fifth with a 39.025... Fellow freshman Ciera Perkins and senior Amy Glass led the Broncos on vault, tying for third with 9.850's... Perkins was BSU's top floor performer, finishing tied for third with a 9.875... Junior Brittany Potvin-Green tied for third on bars with a 9.875... Senior Lindsay Kazandjian, junior Erin Wippermann and sophomore Amanda Otuafi led BSU on beam, making up three-quarters of a four-way logjam at sixth with 9.725's.

Individual rankings shifted quite a bit this week with the move to RQS scoring... Five Broncos hold seven top-100 rankings this week with Potvin-Green and Kazandjian leading the way with two rankings each... Potvin-Green is tied for No. 34 on vault (9.855) and sits in a tie for No. 60 on bars (9.805), while Kazandjian is tied for No. 70 on bars (9.795) and is tied for 99th on beam (9.735)... Otuafi joins the rankings on vault, sitting in a tie for No. 74 (9.810) while Perkins and Morris are tied for the No. 47 spot on bars (9.815).

BSU co-head coaches Neil Resnick and Tina Bird are in their fifth season at the reins of the Broncos, posting an 88-28 record... Last season, Resnick and Bird guided BSU to the 2011 WAC Championship and a third-place finish at the 2011 NCAA North Central Regional... Under Resnick and Bird, the Broncos have won three of the last four WAC titles (2008, 2009, 2011).

SERIES HISTORY VS. BOISE STATE - Utah State is 54-27 all-time vs. Boise State, including 17-10 at Boise... USU topped BSU in this season's earlier meeting, as the Aggies and Broncos also met in a tri-meet hosted by USU on Jan. 27 with Southern Utah... USU was second in that meet with a 194.050 while the then 13th-ranked Broncos were third with a 193.525... It was the Aggies' first win over Boise State since the 2007 Western Athletic Conference Championships, snapping a 13-meet losing skid vs. the Broncos.

BSU won all three meetings last year, as the Aggies faced the Broncos in home-and-home duals, and in the WAC Championships.

SPARKS ALL-STARS - USU freshman Breyanna Aufiero, BSU junior Lacee Lang and freshman Amanda Otuafi are all from Sparks, Nev., but Aufiero went to Bishop Manogue Catholic HS and competed for Deltchev Club while Lang and Otuafi both went to Reed HS and competed for Flips USA Club.

SUPER 16 - The 16 gymnasts on USU's 2012 roster is the most on an Aggie roster since 2006, after having 15 on the 2011 roster, 13 on the 2010 ledger, 12 on the 2009 roster... USU had 14 gymnasts on each of the 2008 and 2007 rosters, while having 16 on the 2006 roster.

BEEHIVE STATERS - Utah State has three gymnasts from the state of Utah in senior Haley Hogan (Centerville/Viewmont HS/North Davis Gymnastics), sophomore Christina Nye (North Logan/Logan HS/Tytans Gymnastics) and freshman Ashley Follett (American Fork, Utah/American Fork HS/All American Gymnastics).

FLIPPING THE BOOKS TOO - Utah State had four gymnasts earn academic all-WAC honors last season, and three return, in seniors Haley Hogan and Rebecca Holliday, along with junior Amanda Watamaniuk.

Sophomore Paige Jones was third in the all-around with a 38.750 while Landes was sixth with a 37.025.

USU opened on bars, with Watamaniuk leading off the lineup with a 9.500, then Montoya followed with a 9.800. Holliday then posted a 9.650, preceding an 8.300 by Landes. Jones notched a 9.675 before freshman Kaitlyn Betts rounded out the bars rotation with a 9.550.

The Aggies scored a 48.275 on bars, while the Cougars notched a 49.175 on vault and the T-Birds tallied a 48.425 on beam.

On beam for the second rotation, freshman Ashley Follett started things off with a 9.600. Redshirt-freshman Samantha Wagner then posted a 9.675, followed by Jones with a 9.600. Next, Holliday hung her win-sharing score of 9.850 on the board, tying her career-high and her third score in a row of higher than a 9.800 after posting her career-high 9.850 in the San Jose State dual and a 9.825 last week against Sacramento State. After a 9.200 by Landes, senior Haley Hogan posted a 9.300 to close out the beam lineup.

USU scored a 48.025 on beam, its third-highest score on the apparatus this season, while SUU registered a 48.575 on floor and BYU posted a 48.075 on bars.

At the meet's midway point, BYU led with a 97.250, followed by SUU at 97.000 and USU with a 96.300.

For the third rotation, the Aggies were on floor, with Watamaniuk again leading off the lineup, posting a 9.600. Holliday then recorded a 9.725 before a 9.825 from freshman Susie Miller, .025 shy of matching her career-best. After Montoya scored a 9.575, Jones notched a 9.750. Landes then landed a 9.775 to complete USU's floor rotation.

The Aggies scored a 48.750 on floor, while the Cougars posted a 48.025 on beam and the T-Birds recorded a 48.500 on vault.

With three rotations in the books, Southern Utah led with a 145.400, followed by BYU with a 145.275 and Utah State close behind with a 144.950.

Just like she had done on bars and floor, Watamaniuk led off the Aggies' vault lineup, posted a 9.750 for a new career-high. Holliday then followed suite with not only the same score but also posting a career-best. Betts then joined in on the career-high posting with a 9.625, which was followed by another career-best by Miller, notching a 9.725. Landes landed a 9.750 to tie her career-best, before Jones closed out the Aggies' vault rotation and their action on the day with a 9.725.

USU had a season-high 48.700 on vault, while SUU posted 48.525 on bars and BYU scored 48.825 on floor to clinch the win.

2011 REVIEW - Utah State finished with a No. 47 ranking in the Troester/GymInfo Women's Gymnastics Coaches Poll... USU had a final Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) of 192.935, a season-average of 192.483 and a season-high of 194.550... The Aggies were fourth in the WAC and eighth in the North Central final rankings... USU was also fourth in the WAC on two of the four apparatus: vault (48.400 RQS/48.173 avg./48.600 high), bars (48.555 RQS/48.308 avg./49.000 high), while ranking fifth on the other two events: beam (47.820 RQS/47.575 avg./48.625 high) and floor (48.625 RQS/48.427 avg./48.975 high).

Individually, Nicole Simoneau was fourth in the WAC, tied for 11th in the North Central region and tied for No. 55 in the country with a 9.835 RQS and a 9.765 average with a season-high of 9.875... Simoneau is also tied for 14th in the conference and 38th in the region on beam with a 9.710 RQS and a 9.584 average with a season-best of 9.750... Lyndsie Boone was tied for eighth in the WAC and tied for 24th in the region on vault with a 9.775 RQS and a 9.738 average with a high score on the season of 9.825... Jackie Dillon was tied for ninth in the WAC and tied for 21st in the region on floor with a 9.800 RQS and a 9.771 average, with a top season score of 9.850... Dillon was also sixth in the conference and 12th in the region as well as 76th in the nation in the all-around with a 38.720 RQS and 38.423 average with a season-high score of 38.150.

At the Texas Woman's quad meet, improved on her all-around score with a 38.925 to finish second, as well as bettering her vault score with a 9.725 (T9th), and improving with 9.750's on both beam (T7th) and floor (T10th), while posting a 9.700 on bars (T13th)... Named the Gymnast of the Meet in the Boise State and Southern Utah tri-meet, setting personal bests on beam, floor and her all-around competition with a winning score of 39.225, making her mark in the USU record books in the process as her winning beam score of 9.875 is tied for the fifth-best score in school history, while her 39.225 all-around score was just outside of USU's top 20 individual all-around performances...
