Utah State Gymnastics Commit Named Oklahoma Gymnast of the Month
March 1, 2013
Future Utah State gymnast Katie Brown has been named the Oklahoma Gymnast of the Month for February.
The Norman, Okla. native is in her fourth year of competition as a Level 10 gymnast at the Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy. She has taken first-place in all-around competition at several large meets in the last few years, as well as claiming the top spot in individual events.
Most recently, she competed at the Nadia Comaneci Invitational, finishing second in the all-around with a 37.425. She placed first on vault with a 9.650 and second on bars, balance beam and floor exercise scoring a 9.200, 9.325 and 9.250, respectively.
Outside of competition, Brown has a perfect grade point average and is expected to graduate first in her class at Norman North High School. She is the president of the National Honor Society and an active member of Mu Alpha Theta and DECA, a business and marketing club. She also participates in various youth groups through her church.
"We knew when we were recruiting Katie that she had many accolades," said Aggie head coach Jeff Richards. "This is just one of many more great accomplishments I believe Katie will achieve."
After a long stretch on the road concluding with its dual meet at Western Athletic Conference foe Sacramento State on Friday, March 1, the Aggies have a quick turnaround as they will return to the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum to host in-state rival BYU on Monday, March 4. As part of the Family Night promotion, fans will receive a free children's ticket with every adult ticket purchase.
Live results for Friday's meet are available by clicking on the "Live Results" link at www.UtahStateAggies.com that will redirect to Sacramento State's website. There will not be a video feed available for Saturdays' action and the live stats link will only work once the meet has started.
