LOGAN, Utah - Utah State gymnast Paige Jones was named the America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 9.
This is the second career Athlete of the Week award for the senior from Smithville, Mo.
Jones helped Utah State record its highest team score in seven years with a 195.525-195.100 home victory against San José State last weekend, its first victory against the Spartans in six years. Jones claimed her second event win of the season, collecting the bars title with a season-best 9.875. She also matched her career-high on floor with a 9.850 to tie for second-place, and was part of three-way Aggie tie for third-place on vault with a 9.775.
In Friday's competition against San José State, the Aggies notched a 48.875 on vault, 48.675 on bars, a season-best 48.800 on beam and a 49.175 on floor. Additionally, USU gymnasts won all the available event titles.
The Aggies are back in action Friday, March 14, hosting No. 24 Southern Utah for Senior Night in USU's home finale. Jones and Christina Nye will be honored for their gymnastics achievements following the meet. Action from the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum will get underway at 7 p.m. (MT).

MEN'S BASKETBALL - Sophomore forward Kyle Davis (Draper, Utah) logged a double-double in helping Utah State to a 65-54 home win against Wyoming in its only game last week. Against the Cowboys, Davis came off the bench and registered his seventh double-double of the season with 11 points and a game-high 14 rebounds as he was 3-of-7 from the field and 5-of-7 at the free throw line, while playing 25 minutes. Davis also tied his career-high with three blocked shots in the game.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL - Sophomore guard Stephanie Bairstow (Brisbane, Queensland, Australia) helped Utah State to an 84-80 road win at Wyoming last week in its only game. Against the Cowgirls, Bairstow scored a career-high 16 points as she was 5-of-10 from the field, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc and 3-for-4 from the free throw line. She also added five rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot in the game.
SOFTBALL - Freshman infielder Victoria Saucedo (West Covina, Calif.) was Utah State's top hitter last week as USU went 1-5, including its first win against Utah since 2008. USU began its week with a 5-0 loss to Mississippi before posting its 8-5 win against the Utes, with both games being played in Salt Lake City. USU then went 0-4 in the UC Riverside hosted Highlander Classic last weekend as it lost to Idaho State (9-4), UC Riverside (5-2, 8-6) and San Diego (2-0). During the week, Saucedo hit safely in five of the Aggies' six games with her best outing coming in the win against Utah as she went 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and one RBI. She started the Highlander Classic with a 1-for-3 performance against Idaho State, and had 1-for-3 performances against both UC Riverside and San Diego. Saucedo concluded the Highlander Classic going 2-for-4 against the host-Highlanders adding two RBI. For the week, Saucedo hit .400 (8-20) with six RBI and five runs scored.
