31st Ranked Utah State Hosts Number 25 Minnesota In Final Home Gymnastics Meet Saturday

March 15, 2007 LOGAN, Utah - Utah State will host its final home gymnastics meet of the year, when the Aggies face Minnesota on Saturday at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The meet will begin at 6:30 p.m. Utah State enters the meet ranked 31st in the country with a Regional Qualifying score of 194.005, while Minnesota comes to Logan ranked 25th with an RQS of 194.335. Minnesota is fifth and USU seventh in the North Central Region. The Aggies are currently the 21st-best vault team in the nation with a 48.885 RQS on that event, while Minnesota is 20th on the floor and 23rd on the balance beam. USU's Jessica Parenti-Otte was named the Western Athletic Conference Gymnast of the Week, while teammate Meagan Lewis earned the league's Specialist of the Week honor it was announced on Monday. Parenti-Otte was second in the all-around at a tri-meet with BYU and Oregon State last week. Lewis tied for first on the vault at the meet. The Aggies have posted their best three scores of the season in the last three meets. USU posted a 195.675 against Southern Utah on Feb. 23 and followed that with a 195.675 against Alaska-Anchorage on March 2 and a 194.675 at BYU last weekend. After hosting Minnesota, the Aggies will travel to Boise State on March 23 and then head to Cedar City for the WAC Championships on March 31. The NCAA Regionals are scheduled for April 14.
