USU Gymnastics Signs Three for 2013-14 Season

LOGAN, Utah - Three gymnasts have signed National Letters of Intent to compete for the Utah State gymnastics team, it was announced by head coach Jeff Richards, Thursday.
"This group of highly decorated student-athletes' accomplishments speak for themselves," Richards said. "They are all at the top of their class, have a lot of talent and high-level gymnastics experience, and are involved in their communities and churches. We are excited to have them join our Aggie family."
Brown is a native of Norman, Okla., and has trained at the Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy under Christian Ivanov, Coral Borda and Julie Kramer. The Level 10 athlete has taken first-place in all-around competition at several large meets in the last few years, as well as claiming the top spot in individual events.
Outside of competition, Brown has a perfect grade point average and is expected to graduate first in her class at Norman North High School. She is the president of the National Honor Society and an active member of Mu Alpha Theta and DECA, a business and marketing club. She also participates in various youth groups through her church.
A native of Kearney, Mo., McIntire comes to Utah State from Edge Gymnastics-Riverside where she competed with current Aggie gymnasts Paige Jones and Kristen Meyers, and under former USU assistant coach Janet Anson. This season, McIntire finished third on floor, second on bars and second in all-around competition at her regional meet. She also took first on vault and second in all-around at the Chicago Style Invitational.
McIntire is also expected to be the valedictorian of her class at Kearney High School. She is a part of the National Honor Society and enjoys volunteering with her church. She is considering a major in criminal justice at Utah State.
Rickman, a native of Tyler, Texas, competed at Texas East Gymnastics under Martin and Stacy Parsley where sher was a two-time Junior Olympic national qualifier. She competed in the Junior Olympic National Invitational Tournament in 2010, taking third in all-around competition. In all-around competition in 2012, she placed seventh at the Region 3 Championships, second at the Rose City Classic and first at the Alamo Classic and Ricky Deci Invitational. She competed at the Western Nationals meet in 2009, placing third overall.
Rickman has a 4.0 GPA at Robert E. Lee High School and is currently ranked ninth in her class. She is an officer in her school's chapter of the National Honor Society and a member of Mu Alpha Theta. She volunteers in her church's children's ministry and has gone on mission trips with the church. She plans to major in biology at Utah State.
"I'm excited to see the contributions these three will bring to our team," Richards said.
USU gymnastics returns two NCAA Regional qualifiers in Sarah Landes and Paige Jones for the 2013 season. Landes, Kaitlyn Betts and Christina Nye also return after earning all-WAC honors last season. Utah State will open the 2013 season at Brigham Young University on Jan. 12.
