Utah State Gymnastics Signs Three To 2011 Signing Class

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State head gymnastics coach Jeff Richards has announced the signings of three gymnasts to compete for the Aggies in 2011-12.
Breyanna Aufiero of Sparks, Nev., Sarah Landes of Edmond, Okla., and Kristen Meyers of Smithville, Mo., have inked letters of intent with Richards and the USU program.
"I am very excited about our 2011 class. This class will have an instant impact on the team and will compliment the 2010 freshmen class very well. They have strong academics, strong gymnastics and a strong work ethic," Richards said.
Aufiero competes under the tutelage of Stoyan and Anni Deltchev at Deltchev Gymnastics Club in Reno, Nev., where she was the Nevada state champion as well as placing second in the region in 2009, along with being her club's gymnast of the year. She won the Level 10 all-around title at both the FLIPS Invitational and the Roseville Invitational. Aufiero was also the Level 9 Nevada state champion in the all-around, floor and beam, while placing second on vault. She also won three Level 9 all-around invitational titles.
She is the daughter of Richard and Sylvia Aufiero, and attends Bishop Manogue Catholic High School in Reno, Nev. Aufiero plans on majoring in pre-med/oncology at Utah State.
Landes competes for Dynamo Gymnastics Club for head coaches Dennis and Shannon Harrison in Oklahoma City, Okla., where she placed fifth in the Level 10 all-around at the Oklahoma state meet, as well as finishing ninth in the all-around at regionals and 18th at the National Invitational Tournament. Landes previously competed at Metro Gymnastics Club, where she won the Shannon Miller Award for Level 9, an award that honors gymnasts who bring outstanding recognition to the sport and to the state of Oklahoma. Landes was also the Metro Gymnastics team captain.
She is the daughter of Darrin and Pam Landes, and attends Deer Creek High School in Edmond, Okla. Landes plans on majoring in exercise science/pre-athletic training at Utah State.
Meyers competes at Edge Riverside Gymnastics Club under head coaches John Laudie and Laura Habel in Riverside, Mo., where she was club teammates with current Aggie freshman gymnast Paige Jones. Meyers was eighth in the all-around at the Missouri state meet as well as third in the all-around at regionals, qualifying to JO Nationals. She was also the Missouri state champion in 2008. Meyers also is a four-time recipient of the Hardest Worker Award from Edge Gymnastics.
She is the daughter of David and Lori Meyers, and attends Smithville High School in Smithville, Mo. Meyers plans on majoring in exercise science/sports medicine at Utah State.
Utah State gymnastics will host its annual Blue-White Intrasquad Meet on Saturday, Dec. 18 at 11 a.m. at the Health, Physical Education and Recreation building (HPER).
The Aggies' officially open the 2011 season on Friday, Jan. 7 hosting No. 18 Southern Utah in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. USU will stay at home for its second meet of the season as it hosts a tri-meet including BYU and No. 20 Arizona in Logan.
Utah State finished the 2010 season third at Western Athletic Conference Championships meet, tying USU's best WAC finish in the Aggies' five years in the league, matching the 2007 third-place finish.
