LOGAN, Utah -

Utah State University's gymnastics team is ranked 30th in the country in Troester.com's preseason coaches poll. The ranking is the Aggies' highest preseason ranking since the beginning of the 2002 season.

The Aggies return nine gymnasts from last season including All-Western Gymnastics Conference first team honoree Katie Rutherford and second teamers Rachel Ropelato, Jessica Parenti, and Meagan Nelson.

"W'e are very pleased that the body of coaches in the country have confidence in us to give us this ranking," said head gymnastics coach Ray Corn. "Whether or not we are worthy of this ranking, only time will tell. We have still got a lot to learn about collegiate gymnastics."

Six of USU's opponents are ranked in the top 25, while in-state rivals Utah and BYU are ranked #4 and #24 respectively, with Southern Utah also receiving votes. Every team in the Western Gymnastics Conference received top-25 votes.

USU kicks off its season at the Rocky Mountain Open on Jan. 17 and will open its home season against Southern Utah on Feb. 6.
