WAC Title on the Line for USU Soccer Against Louisiana Tech Sunday

The Aggies will honor their three seniors that day.

2010 (JR): Played and started in 19 of USU’s 21 matches… Was named WAC Defensive Player of the Week three times... Played 1716:25 of a total 1996 minutes… Allowed only 18 goals on the season for a 0.94 goals against average… Had a shutout in seven matches… Posted a season-high seven saves in a 1-1 tie versus San Diego State (Sept. 5)... Named Utah State’s and the WAC’s Player of the Week after shutting out Boise (Oct. 15) and Idaho (Oct. 17)… Ended the season with 58 saves… Earned academic all-WAC honors for the second-straight season...Was named NSCAA Scholar all-West Region with honorable mention honors... Part of the USU squad that earned its eighth-straight NSCAA Team Academic Award.

2009 (SO): Named to the WAC all-tournament team... Played in and started all 21 matches... Played 1841:22 of a total 1951:53 minutes... Allowed only 25 goals for a 1.22 GAA... The 82 saves is tied with Tracy Brady (2001) for the third-most saves in a season... Registered first career shutout in season-opening win over Northern Arizona (Aug. 21)... Also added shutouts in conference wins at Boise State (Oct. 9) and Fresno State (Oct. 16)... Played a career-high 110 minutes twice against Wyoming (Sept. 6) and San Jose State (Oct. 17)...Earned academic all-WAC honors... Part of the USU squad that earned its seventh-straight NSCAA Team Academic Award.

2008 (FR): Played in three matches during the season winning her only start against UTEP (Sept. 14)... Had seven saves in her 180 minutes of playing time, including four in the win against the Miners... Only allowed one goal... Named Joe E. and Elma Whitesides Scholar-Athlete... Part of the USU squad that earned its sixth-straight NSCAA Team Academic Award.

High School: A four-year letterwinner at Bountiful High School, where she played for head coach Dave Wigham... Set the school record for career shutouts with 35... Earned two regional championships, while appearing in two state championships and winning the state title in 2006... Was named the 2006 Davis County Clipper MVP and received Salt Lake Tribune Class 4A first-team all-state honors three-straight season.

Personal: Born July 23, 1990... Daughter of John and Jenny Merrill... The oldest of four children... Majoring in family and consumer science.
