Through 110 minutes of play amidst a highly defensive match, Utah State soccer ended it's Sunday double-overtime contest against Cal State Fullerton in a 1-1 draw.

With the draw, Utah State sits at 2-1-1 on the season, while Cal State Fullerton stands with a 2-0-2 record.

The Titans won the shot differential Sunday, tallying 15 to the Aggies' eight. Cal State Fullerton had nine shots on goal, resulting in a career-best eight saves for Utah State senior goalkeeper Sara Cobb. USU ended the day with three shots on goal.

"Cal State Fullerton is a good team. I thought we played well at times, but it was a battle between two good teams who had the run of play at different times. We both had a lot of near-misses, there could have been more goals in that game," said USU head coach Heather Cairns. "When you play a high-caliber opponent, that's kind of the way games go. We both had our opportunities, but we both had to defend really well too."

Cal State Fullerton struck first and early, getting on the board in the third minute of the match. Atlanta Primus got and kept possession of the ball near the top of the box, swinging through and across to the right corner of the net.

Utah State went on to even the score before the halftime break in the 36th minute. Freshman midfielder Ashley Cardozo curved a free kick from the right side of the box into a mix of the Utah State offense and Cal State Fullerton defense. There, the ball bounced around off several heads and shoulders, eventually making its way into the net on a Titan touch.

Things got defensive and aggressive through the second half, as both teams looked to break the tie. Over the course of the second half and both overtime periods, the teams combined for five cards being issued, as four Aggies were given a yellow card, and CSUF was given a red. The Titans were forced to play with 10 on the field for the final 52 minutes of the match.

Both the Aggies and the Titans had several strong opportunities to score over the second half and extra periods, but the goalkeepers made solid saves on each end of the field, forcing the 1-1 draw.

The Aggies now embark on a six-match roadswing. Utah State will start the trip on Friday, Sept. 1 in a border meeting with Idaho State. The Aggies and Bengals will begin competition at 4 p.m.
