POCATELLO, Idaho - After an Idaho State foul in the 88th minute, junior defender Taryn Rose drilled a penalty kick that gave Utah State soccer the 3-2 win over Idaho State at Davis Field in Pocatello, Idaho on Saturday.

With the win, the Aggies remain undefeated with a 4-0-1 record. The Bengals slip to 2-3-0 with the loss.

Utah State had the first two shots of the match with freshman midfielder Jayne Robison and senior forward Mari Miyashiro getting off shots.

After an Idaho State foul in the box, Rose took a penalty kick with 15:06 left on the clock. The PK went off the cross bar and was controlled by ISU goalkeeper Sheridan Haspic. Off the penalty kick attempt, junior forward Kylie Dibb struck again, missing high.

Senior forward Jennifer Flynn saw action in her first match of the season after missing the first four matches of the season with an injury. Flynn was the Aggies leading scorer last year.

Idaho State had a great opportunity off of a free kick at the 32:10 mark of the first half. The blast by Allyson Stainbrook was saved by sophomore goalkeeper Jeannie Woller. Stainbrook struck again with less than five minutes left in the half, but Woller was there to punch the ball away again.

The half ended with a 0-0 score with both teams, taking seven shots. Idaho State goalkeeper Haspic had four saves, compared to three by Woller.

Idaho State took the 1-0 lead in the 59th minute when Madeline Gochnour broke the scoreless tie with her second goal of the season.

Less than two minutes later, Utah State tied the score with a shot from Flynn that hit off the post and snuck into the goal. Flynn had a strong return to the lineup with three shots on goal off the bench.

The Bengals didn't take long re-taking the lead, 2-1, in the 61:32 minute of the second half. Stainbrook, who was a threat the whole match, delivered on a free kick from 23 yards to to the left corner of the goal. The goal was the third of the season for Stainbrook.

Senior midfielder Shay Haddow picked a great time to score her first goal as an Aggie. At the 64:33 point of the second half, a ball was deflected off the hands of Haspic. Haddow blasted a shot from minute yards out to tie the score, 2-2.

Rose's penalty kick in the 88th minute gave Utah State its only lead of the match. The junior is one of three Aggies with two goals this season along with junior forward Lauren Roundy and Dibb. Seven different Aggies have found the back of the net so far this season.

Utah State now returns home to host Arkansas on Friday, Sept. 13 at 4 p.m. It is also Utah Youth Soccer Day where youth can take part in a clinic prior to the match. Admission to all home USU soccer matches at Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field is free.
