USU Soccer Hosts Nebraska in Labor Day Battle Monday

LOGAN, Utah - After opening the season 3-0-0 for the third time in five years, Utah State soccer returns to Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field to take on a new opponent, Nebraska (2-1-0) on Monday, Sept. 2 at 1 p.m. in a Labor Day battle.
The Aggies will host only its second Big Ten Conference team when Nebraska comes to town on Sept. 2 in a Labor Day matchup. Utah State is 0-2 against the Big Ten, last facing a team from the conference on Aug. 31, 2001, falling to Northwestern in Logan. The Aggies also fell to Indiana in Bloomington, Ind., on Sept. 10, 2000. In that matchup, USU fell to the Hoosiers, 3-0.
The Cornhuskers are 2-1-0, falling to No. 6 BYU on Aug. 31 in Provo, 3-0. Nebraska also had wins against Southeast Missouri, 4-0, and Cincinnati, 4-1. UN has out-scored its opponents 8-4. Jaycie Johnson leads the team in scoring with three goals and one assist for seven points. Mayme Conroy is second in scoring with two goals for four points. Emma Stevens has played the bulk of the minutes in goal, playing over 250 minutes this season. She has allowed only four goals this season for a 1.43 goals against average this year.
With three shutouts to start the season, Utah State has made history. This is the first time in program history that the Aggies have started the season with three-straight shutouts. The defense, behind the stellar play of sophomore goalkeeper Jeannie Woller, has yet to allow a goal this season. So far this season, Utah State recorded shutouts against Creighton (3-0), Utah Valley (1-0) and UTEP (1-0).

Following the match with Nebraska, the Aggies will then cross the border to Idaho to close out the week against Idaho State on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 12 p.m.
