Aggie Soccer Begins Road Trip at Cal Poly

LOGAN, Utah - For the first time since August, the Aggies will play back-to-back road matches. The road trip begins at Cal Poly on Friday, Sept, 26 at 8 p.m. (MT). The Aggies 4-5-1 this season and are in search of their first road win of 2008. The Mustangs are 4-5 and have won three of their last four matches.
Cal Poly, a former Big West foe, holds an 8-1 advantage of Utah State. The last time the teams met was in 2004, the Aggies' final year in the Big West. The Mustangs defeated USU 3-1. This is the second-straight Big West team that the Aggies have faced after falling to Long Beach State 3-0 on Sunday in Logan.
Following the Cal Poly match, the Aggies will then travel over 800 miles to Laramie, Wyo. to take on the Cowgirls. Wyoming is a former Western Athletic Conference team although the Aggies and the Cowgirls were never in the WAC at the same time. Wyoming is 3-1 against Utah State. The last time the teams met was in 2002 when the Cowgirls shut out the Aggies, 1-0 in double overtime.
The Aggies are led by sophomore striker Lauren Hansen who leads the team with nine points off of four goals and one assist. Eight different Aggies have provided assists this season, including four newcomers.

Following the long road trip the Aggies return home for a pair of home matches. Utah State will face BYU for its final non-conference match on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 4 p.m. at Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field just one day before the USU football team takes on the Cougars. The Aggie soccer team then begins conference play by hosting Idaho on Friday, Oct. 10 at 3 p.m. Admission to all Utah State home soccer matches is free.
