USU Soccer Concludes Road Trip Against No. 18 Denver Sunday

LOGAN, Utah - After Utah State women's soccer tied a school record with its seventh overtime match in a 0-0 double overtime tie against New Mexico State on Friday, the Aggies are back in action on Sunday, Sept. 30 taking on No. 18 Denver on the road at Noon.
The Pioneers are the third ranked team that USU has faced this season with a 1-1 tie against No. 23 Washington and a 1-0 loss against No. 12 BYU.
USU is now 5-2-5 overall and 0-0-1 in Western Athletic Conference play after tying New Mexico State 0-0 in double overtime on Friday. In the defensive battle, senior goalkeeper Ashlyn Mulford earned her fourth shutout of the season.
The all-time series history between Utah State and Denver is knotted at 1-1. The first meeting between the Aggies and the Pioneers was in 1997 when USU won, 3-2, in Colorado. In 1998, Denver won the matchup in Logan. This is the first meeting with both teams being part of the same conference, as Denver is in its first season in the WAC.
The Pioneers have a 9-1-2 record overall and 1-0-0 in league play. DU is second in the WAC in points scored with 78. Denver has the top two scorers in the league in Kristen Hamilton (18 points) and Kaitlin Bast (16 points).
In its first WAC match, Denver dominated San Jose State, 4-0, at home. The Pioneers used balanced scoring with two goals in the first half and two in the second. Bast had two assists and a goal in the win.
Utah State is now 5-2-1 in WAC openers. The Aggies' only losses came in 2009 when USU lost at Nevada, 1-0, to open its fifth season in the WAC and in 2011 when the Aggies fell on the road to Hawai`i, 2-1.
