THIS WEEK - Utah State returns home after a four-game road series to host Weber State Tues., Oct. 3 at 4 p.m.
NEXT WEEK - The Aggie will have a much needed 10-day rest before they resume conference play at home against Cal State Fullerton Oct. 13 at 3 p.m.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT - Weber State is looking for its first win of the season as it is currently 0-10-1 on the year, and 0-1 in the Big Sky Conference. The Wildcats' have been led by freshman Natalie Hensley who has six goals and three assists for a total of 15 points this season. USU is 2-2 all-time against WSU. Utah State has won the last two meetings between the teams, winninng 2-1 in 1998 and shutting out the Wildcats 2-0 last season.
AGGIE HOT SHOTS
Sophomore Katie Seaman (Taylorsville, Utah) scored USU's game-winning goal in the 1-0 victory over conference foe Idaho, Thursday. Seaman's goal was the first of her career.
Senior goalkeeper Michaela Hawes (St. George, Utah) didn't allow a goal against either of the Aggies' opponents this past week. Hawes made ten saves in 147 minutes of play and recorded her second shutout of the season, and the fourth of her careeer against Idaho.
USU IN THE BIG WEST RANKINGS
Freshman Ally Clegg (Bountiful, Utah) is eighth among individual scorers in the Big West averaging .89 points per game. Clegg is also tied for second in assists (4) and eighth in points scored (10) in the conference standings.
Senior Marnie Bartelson (Coupeville, Wash.) ranks 10th in the Big West among individual scorers averaging .78 points per game. She is also tied for seventh in the conference in goals on the year, with three.
The Aggies are tied with Boise State for third in the Big West in total team offense, averaging 1.7 goals per game.
USU VS. IDAHO GAME RECAP - The Aggies opened up conference play with a win over Idaho Thursday, Sept. 28. Despite outshooting the Aggies eight to four in the first period neither Idaho or Uath State could capitalize on its oppurtunities as both teams went into the half scoreless. Senior Michaela Hawes was credited with two saves in the period. The second period continued to be a duel between the two teams as neither team could find the net in the first 19 minutes of play. Finally Utah State sophomore Katie Seaman scored the game-winning goal at 69:47 on a shot that deflected off the goalkeeper's hands to find the back of the net. Hawes recorded four additional saves in the period to bring her total to six on the night.
UTAH STATE VS. EASTERN WASHINGTON GAME RECAP - USU could not keep the two-game win streak alive as it was shutout 1-0 by Eastern Washington Sat., Sept. 30. In the first period of play Utah State outshot Eastern Washington seven to five. Despite USU's seven attempts at a score Utah State never found the net as EWU's goalkeeper recorded six saves. Senior goalkeeper Michaela Hawes (St. George, Utah) prevented the Eagles from scoring in the first period as she recorded three saves and took the Aggies into the half tied at 0-0. The game did not remain scoreless for long when six minutes into the second period EWU's Jessica Fransen scored an unassisted goal off a kick into the upper right corner of the net at 51:37. Utah State took four more shots at the net but could not convert its oppurtunities and finished the game scoreless.
