Regionally-Ranked Aggie Soccer Travels to Fresno State Friday

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State soccer hits the road for a season-long, three-match road swing, beginning at Fresno State on Friday, Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. (MT).

The Aggies (6-4-2, 2-1 MW) have won two-straight matches with wins over UNLV and Wyoming. Senior forward Jennifer Flynn has scored the game-winning goals in both wins and leads the team in scoring with three goals and one assist for seven points.

USU is ranked ninth in the current NSCAA/Continental Tire Pacific Region poll. Boise State is the only other team in the Mountain West Conference ranked tied for 10th with Washington.

Fresno State and Utah State are familiar acquaintances as conference foes in the Western Athletic Conference. The Bulldogs hold a 6-3-3 record against Utah State. The last time the two teams met was in 2011 when the Aggies defeated the Bulldogs, 1-0, in the WAC Tournament championship match in Fresno. Earlier in 2011, the two teams tied, 0-0, in double overtime in Logan. The win in the WAC Tournament final in 2011 was USU's first win in Fresno.

Fresno State is 5-7-1 overall and 2-2-0 in Mountain West action. After losing three-straight and four of five matches, the Bulldogs have rebounded with back-to-back wins against Nevada on Oct. 4 and UNLV on Oct. 6.

Morgan Castain is first on the team and second in the conference in points scored with eight goals and one assist for 17 points. She is one of only five Bulldogs to score a goal this season. Fresno State has had three different players see time in goal this year with Katie DeVault leading the way with 13 starts. She has allowed 14 of Fresno State's goals for a 1.14 goals against average. Both Castain and DeVault earned MW Player of the Week honors this week.

Following the match against Fresno State, Utah State remains on the road to take on San José State on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 1p p.m. (MT). The Aggies will conclude the road trip in Fort Collins, Colo., for the first-ever meeting with the Rams of Colorado State on Friday, Oct. 18 at 3 p.m.
