SCOUTING THE OPPONENT UC Santa Barbara is 6-8-1 this season (1-3 in conference), including a 5-3-1 record at home. The Gauchos are coming off two conference losses over the weekend as they fell to both Idaho (3-1) and Boise State (1-2). All-time Utah State is 2-2 against UCSB. The teams have split the last two meetings as Utah State was victorious in 1998 (3-1), and the Gauchos came out on top in last season's meeting, winning 2-1.

Cal Poly (7-6-1 overall, 2-2 in conference) split the past weekend's games shutting out Boise State (1-0) Friday, before falling to Idaho (1-0) in overtime Sunday afternoon. USU is 1-3 all-time against the Mustangs. The Aggies one victory came last season when senior Heather Cox scored the game-winning goal in overtime to put USU on top 4-3.

Senior Jayme Gordy (Cheyenne, Wyo.) scored USU's only goal of the weekend in the Aggies 2-1 loss to UC Irvine Sunday. Gordy's goal is her third of the season and the 33rd of her career.

Senior Michaela Hawes (St. George, Utah) recorded a season-high 10 saves during the UC Irvine game.

Sophomore Katie Seaman (Taylorsville, Utah) turned in her first assist of the season, helping Gordy on USU's lone goal against UC Irvine.

Senior Marnie Bartelson (Coupeville, Wash.) ranks ninth in the Big West among individual scorers averaging .75 points per game. She is also tied for sixth in the conference in goals on the year (4), and 11th in points for the season (9).

Freshman Ally Clegg (Bountiful, Utah) ranks 12th among individual scorers in the Big West averaging .67 points per game. Clegg is also tied for fifth in the conference in assists with four.

USU VS. UC IRVINE GAME RECAP USU's women's soccer team fell to UC Irvine 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Tower Field. "We have got to come out and be pumped up," said head coach Stacey Enos. "Our pre-game was not inspirational. We didn't seem enthused and I thought we came out with some reservations." Utah State opened the game playing tentativly and UC Irvine used that to its advantage and scored in the 10th minute of play. UCI freshman Lachelle Manzano found the net from 15 feet out on a dead center shot at the 9:10 mark. Utah State battled and got off six shots on goal in the first half but could not score and went into the half trailing 1-0. During the second half USU came out more aggressive and the teams held each other scoreless for 35 minutes. Senior Jayme Gordy broke open the scoring at 81:47 as she headed in a ball off a corner kick from sophomore Katie Seaman to tie the game. The game did not remain tied for long as UCI's Ariana Downs headed in a shot of her own from five feet out off a pass from Melody Mangrallo at 82:57 to give the Anteaters the win. "I liked that we scored with ten minutes left," said head coach Stacey Enos. "I am bummed that we let them score, that goal was preventable."
