THIS WEEK -
This week Utah State's women's soccer team returns home for its final two home games of the regular season against conference opponents Pacific and Long Beach State. The Aggies will play Pacific Fri., Oct. 27 at 4 p.m., and Long Beach State Sun., Oct. 29 at 1 p.m.
NEXT WEEK -
The Aggies conclude the 2000 season on the road against Boise State Sat., Nov. 4 at 1 p.m.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT -
Pacific is 9-6-2 on the year and 4-3-1 in Big West action. The Tigers are coming off a 2-1 win over Boise State Sunday. The win was the first for Pacific in its last five games. UOP leads the all-time series against Utah State 4-0.
Long Beach State is 6-7-2 this year and 3-2-1 in the conference. The Beach has been on a hot streak as of late winning or tying its last four games after losing seven in a row earlier this season. All-time Utah State is 1-1 against LBSU. The Aggies won 2-1 in 1998 and lost 1-0 in 1999.
USU IN THE BIG WEST RANKINGS -
Senior Marnie Bartelson (Coupeville, Wash.) ranks 13th in the Big West among individual scorers averaging .64 points per game. She is also tied for 10th in the conference in goals on the year (4), and 12th in points for the season (9).
Freshman Ally Clegg (Bountiful, Utah) ranks 17th among individual scorers in the Big West averaging .57 points per game. Clegg is also tied for fourth in the conference in assists with four.
USU VS. CAL POLY GAME RECAP -
USU was shutout in its second consecutive game as it loss to Cal Poly 3-0 Sunday afternoon.
Utah State only managed one shot on goal the entire first half while the Mustangs aimed at the net ten times. Cal Poly scored at the 38:59 mark when Megan Schlegal found the net on an unassisted goal to take Cal Poly into the half leading 1-0.
In the second half it was Cal Poly who again dominated play and allowed the Aggies just two shots on goal. Cal Poly scored two minutes into the half as Jen Brick knocked one in with help from Katie Bowe. CP turned in its final goal of the day at the 72:01 mark when Sandy Oceguera kicked the ball over goalkeeper Michaela Hawes' hands to deliver the Mustangs a 3-0 shutout.
