Fourth-Place Aggie Soccer Squares Off With First-Place New Mexico Friday In Mountain West Showdown

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State (9-5-2, 5-2-0 MW) continues its busiest week of the season, taking on first-place New Mexico on Friday, Oct. 25 at Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. The Aggies will be putting their three-match winning streak on the line against the Lobos.

This is the first-ever meeting between the Aggies and the Lobos. New Mexico is currently tied for first in the MW standings with San Diego State, both with a 6-1-0 conference records. New Mexico has an 8-6-2 overall record.

Utah State is currently in fourth place in the MW standings behind New Mexico and San Diego State who are tied for first with 18 points and Fresno State which is third with 16 points. The Aggies have 15 points with three matches remaining.

Dylann O'Connor and Lindsay Guice are tied for the team lead for the Lobos with 11 points each. O'Connor has four goals and three assists for 11 points, while Guice has five goals and one assist to match her 11 points. Guice is tied for third in the conference with three game-winning goals. Cassie Ulrich has played every minute in goal for UNM, allowing only 16 goals in 17 matches for a 0.91 GAA.

Aggie junior midfielder Lexie Morgan has been coming on strong of late. She is fourth on the team in scoring with two goals and three assists for seven points. In Mountain West action, she his tied for third in scoring with one goal and two assists for four points. Morgan has points in back-to-back games with an assist in the Aggies' win against Colorado State and a goal against Air Force.

Following the match against the Lobos, Utah State will take on the other team that is currently tied for first in the San Diego State Aztecs on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. USU is 0-0-1 against SDSU with the only meeting taking place in San Diego in 2010.

 

 

The Aggies will close out the regular-season against a familiar foe in Boise State on Friday, Nov. 1 at 3 p.m. The Broncos and the Aggies have met 14 ties as they both were members of the Western Athletic Conference. Utah State holds a 9-3-2 record against Boise State.
