USU Soccer Hosts First-Place San Diego State Sunday
USU soccer continues its busy week against first-place San Diego State Sunday.

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State soccer (9-5-3, 5-2-1 MW) concludes its busy three-match week on Sunday, Oct. 27 at Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field, hosting San Diego State. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. The Aggies have gone 3-0-1 in their last four matches, and are looking to keep their unbeaten streak rolling.

The Aztecs are currently alone in first-place in the Mountain West with a 9-6-2 overall record and a 7-1-0 mark in league play. SDSU now stand alone in first after a 1-0 win against Boise State on Friday. The Aztecs' only conference loss came against Wyoming, 2-1, on Oct. 13.

The Aggies and the Aztecs have met once in 2010, in San Diego and tied, 0-0, in double overtime. Hannah Keane is second in the Mountain West in points with 10 goals and four assists for 24 points. Aztec goalkeeper Melanie Vaughn is fourth in goals against average with a 1.06 goals against average.

The Aggies have two goalkeepers on the MW's top 10 list in shutouts with sophomore Jeannie Woller standing tied for fourth with five, while redshirt-freshman Natalie Stoven is tied for seventh with four. As a team, USU is first in the MW in shutouts with nine. The Aggies are also second in goals allowed with 15 and goals against average 0.85.

Utah State is currently in fourth-place in the MW standings behind San Diego State which has 21 points. New Mexico and Fresno State are tied for second with 19 points, while the Aggies have 16 points with two matches remaining. USU is just ahead of Wyoming with 14 points. Those five schools have all clinched spots in the eight-team MW Tournament Nov. 4-9 in Albuquerque, N.M.

The Aggies will close out the regular-season against a familiar foe in Boise State on Friday, Nov. 1 at 3 p.m. The Broncos and the Aggies have met 14 times as they both were members of the Western Athletic Conference. Utah State holds a 9-3-2 record against Boise State.
