LOGAN, Utah - Senior forward Candice Clark has been named both the Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week and the America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week it was announced on Monday. The USU weekly award is voted on by a state media panel.

Clark, a senior from Provo, Utah (Timpview HS), capped off a historic weekend for Utah State with seven points in two matches, leading the Aggies to their first-ever WAC regular-season title. Clark had three goals on five shots and added an assist. The senior scored the game-winning goal in both road wins over Hawai`i and San Jose State. Against, the Rainbow Wahine, she scored both goals to lead USU to a 2-1 win over Hawai`i. To clinch the WAC title, she scored the game-winner against San Jose State in the 57th minute to break a 2-2 deadlock. It marks the first time in Clark's career that she has earned WAC Player of the Week honors and the third consecutive week an Aggie has garnered the award.

This is the first time since Utah State joined the WAC that the Aggies have been honored four times with WAC Player of the Week in one season as Lauren Hansen, Shantel Flanary and Sydne Porter were all honored earlier this season. This is also the first time that USU has earned the WAC honor back-to-back-to-back weeks with Hansen earning WAC Offensive Player of the Week two weeks ago and Sydne Porter earning WAC Defensive Player of the Week last week. Overall, Utah State has now earned nine WAC Player of the Week honors.

UTAH STATE STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK NOMINATIONS

FOOTBALL - Sophomore quarterback Diondre Borel (Oakley, Calif.) was 15-of-24 passing for 193 yards and one touchdown, while adding 74 rushing yards and a TD, as well as a two-point conversion in USU's heartbreaking 30-28 Homecoming loss to Fresno State Saturday. Borel had a 52-yard pass to Nnamdi Gwacham in the fourth quarter, which ties his career long pass, matching last week's 52-yard TD pass at Nevada. Borel's two-point conversion in the fourth quarter was USU's first successful two-point conversion of the season and the first since RB Derrvin Speight's two-point rush last season at Utah, a span of 15 games.

VOLLEYBALL - Senior middle blocker Rebecca Anderson (Logan, Utah) helped Utah State notch a 1-1 record last week with a five-set win against Boise State and a four-set loss at Nevada. Against the Broncos, Anderson hit .500 (15-2-26) and recorded a career-high 15 kills, to go along with six block assists. She then added seven kills, six blocks and a career-high tying three digs against the Wolf Pack. For the week, Anderson hit .400 (22-4-45) and averaged 2.44 kills, 1.33 blocks and 0.44 digs per set.
