LOGAN, Utah - - Utah State women's soccer hosts San Jose State in a crucial Western Athletic Conference match on Friday, Oct. 28 at Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field at 3 p.m. The Aggies are currently are in first place in the league with 12 points, while San Jose State is tied for second with three other teams with 10 points.

The Aggies have won four-straight conference matches against New Mexico State, Louisiana Tech, Nevada and Idaho. USU is now 12-4-1 overall and 4-1-0 in league play. The Aggies are one win away from tying the Utah State record for wins in a season when the 2008 team finished the season 13-8-1.

Utah State has a 3-2-2 record against San Jose State. The Spartans and the Aggies tied for the WAC regular-season title last season. SJSU is currently tied for second in the WAC standings with Fresno State, Idaho and Hawai`i with 10 points. Last season, San Jose State handed the Aggies one of their two WAC losses, defeating USU 4-1 in San Jose.

So far this season, San Jose State is 5-10-1 overall and 3-1-1 in WAC matches with wins against New Mexico State, Louisiana Tech and Idaho, a tie against Hawai`i and a loss to Fresno State. The Spartans have won two-straight matches. Kelsey Lord continues to lead the Spartans in scoring with six goals and four assists for 16 points. She is the only Spartan in double-digits in scoring. Meghan Maiwald has played in all 16 SJSU matches in goal, allowing 26 goals for a 1.60 GAA.

With two assists against Idaho on Oct. 21, senior forward Shantel Flanary tied Aggie-great Lindsey Smart (2006-09) with 15 career assists. Flanary now has 81 career points which puts her three behind Lauren Hansen (2007-10) in career points. Hansen set the record of 84 last season.

The Aggies will conclude the regular season hosting Fresno State on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. USU will honor its five seniors Molli Merrill, Summer Tillotson, Shantel Flanary, Marissa Sanchez and Chandra Salmon-Christensen prior to the match against the Bulldogs.
