Utah State concludes the 2000 season on the road as it takes on Boise State Saturday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Boise State is currently 4-10-2 on the season and 1-5-1 in conference action. Over the weekend the Broncos tied Long Beach State 0-0 and were shutout by Idaho 2-0. BSU is led by Brittany Zoellner who leads the team in goals (9) and points (19). All-time USU is 2-0 against the Broncos.
USU IN THE BIG WEST RANKINGS
Senior Marnie Bartelson (Coupeville, Wash.) ranks 13th in the Big West among individual scorers averaging .56 points per game. She is also tied for 11th in the conference in goals on the year (4), and 11th in points for the season (9).
Freshman Ally Clegg (Bountiful, Utah) is tied for fourth among Big West assist leaders with four.
AGGIE HOT SHOTS
Freshman Jessica Ebner (Taylorsville, Utah) scored her first career game-winning goal in double overtime to lift the Aggies to victory over Pacific 2-1 Friday.
Junior Carrie Niederhauser (Fruit Heights, Utah) scored her first goal of the season and the third goal of her career against Pacific.
Senior Jayme Gordy (Cheyenne, Wyo.) knocked in her fourth goal of the season in USU's loss to Long Beach State. Gordy now has 34 career goals.
USU VS. LONG BEACH STATE GAME RECAP
Utah State's women's soccer team fell to Long Beach State 2-1 in double overtime Sunday afternoon.
Both teams came out aggressive in the first half with Long Beach State getting off eight shots on goal and Utah State taking aim at the net four times. Neither team managed a score and both sides remained scoreless at the half.
Long Beach State caught Utah State off guard in the opening moments of the second half as Marisa Barragan knocked in a goal for LBSU from 20 yards out just 43 seconds into the half. Utah State did not give up and popped off five shots on goal throughout the half before senior Jayme Gordy found the net from six yards out off a pass from senior Ashley Cracroft at the 82:57 mark to send the game into overtime.
In the first overtime period Utah State had three shots on goal and LBSU turned in two shots but neither team could convert its efforts and the game was sent into double overtime. The Beach's Sarah Aquilar ended the game two minutes into double overtime as she scored from five feet out at 106:21.
