USU Soccer's Norris Earns First-Team NSCAA Scholar All-American Honors
Dec. 17, 2012
LOGAN, Utah - Senior defender Natalie Norris was named first-team National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-America on Monday. The award rounds out a career that has accolades both on and off the field. The Sandy, Utah native, who has a 3.95 grade point average with a double major in nutrition, dietetics & food science and exercise science was named the Western Athletic Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player after leading Utah State to its second-straight WAC Tournament title. Norris earned the WAC Defensive Player of the Year award for the third consecutive season and led the Aggies to a 13-3-6 record. A three-time all-WAC first team selection, Norris was an essential part of the Utah State defense that allowed 13 goals. Norris is one of three players in the state of Utah to earn NSCAA Scholar honors along with BYU's Carlee Payne-Holmoe (second team) and Erica Owens (second team). She is the only WAC player to be honored by the NSCAA. This is the second-straight season that Norris was named to the All-American team after earning third-team honors last season. The defender also earned Senior CLASS second-team All-American honors this season for her efforts on and off the field, including her community service efforts. Early this year, Norris became the first Aggie to earn first-team Women's Soccer Capital One Academic All-American® honors, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
