Softball Drops Third Game At BYU
March 15, 2003
PROVO, Utah - Amanda Carlson went 2-2 and picked up her third double of the season, but Utah State softball fell to BYU 12-4 in the third game of the series here Saturday. The Aggies fell to 2-14 this season and BYU improved to 15-7.
With her two hits, Carlson extended her hitting streak to four games. She also picked up a walk and her sixth RBI of the season.
"We did a much better job of putting the ball in play and scoring," said head coach Debbie Bilbao. "Normally four runs would be enough to win, but against a great hitting team like BYU you need to do more defensively."
Several Aggies had strong hitting performances. Both Sara Fleming and Kelly Leos were 2-3 and each picked up an RBI. Quela Henderson extended her hitting streak to nine games, going 1-3 and scoring one run. Marcie Neff was walked twice and scored two runs.
Utah State dropped the first two games of the series to BYU 6-1, 10-1 Friday.
The Aggies travel to Sacramento, Calif. for the Capital Classic March 20-23. Utah State will face Iowa, Long Island, Eastern Kentucky and Sacramento State.
